Colorado Buffaloes Reveal New Practice Jerseys Ahead Of 2024 Season

Colorado Buffaloes- Shedeur Sanders

The Colorado Buffaloes have been one of the hottest topics on social media. Everything that involves college student athletes is voiced through platforms such as Twitter (X), Facebook, or Instagram. Many young athletes use these outlets to inform the sports world when it comes to important information regarding games, updates, or more recently NIL deals.

On Wednesday, new practice uniforms were posted on X that involved the Colorado Buffaloes football program. Colorado Buffaloes starting quarterback, Shedeur Sanders was seen with a practice uniform that showed his Twitter handle on the back and top of his jersey.

With the new college football landscape, this is a bold move, despite college athletes making revenue based on NIL deals, sponsorships, and endorsements. But, it is the second time since 2023 that Deion Sanders has let his players display and show off their brand to the sports world. Will this become a trend in college football?

Each player has their social media handle name on the back of their practice jersey. But, not every college institution or football program has that in place. Shedeur Sanders was the only player seen publicly with his Twitter (X) handle. The senior quarterback just launched his new podcast titled ” 2 Legendary.” He recently was placed on the cover of the new EA Sports College Football 25 video game that was released on July 19.

In past years, most schools never had a last name on the back of their uniform. It took some time before equipment managers were able to attach last names to player’s jerseys. When that started many teams were changing brand apparel. This included Nike, Under Armour, and Jordan Brand. Most of the programs surrounding college football wear new gear each season with alternate uniforms released or being worn in bigger games.

This helps corporations and businesses identify specific players. Players are allowed to make money which is the reason why Name, Image, and Likeness exist in today’s form of college football. The idea of social media names being put on uniforms increases players’ brands, but the outside world will not be able to physically see a practice jersey behind closed doors.

Colorado Buffaloes 2024 Schedule

As the Colorado quarterback enters his fourth year, he is one of six Heisman finalists at the quarterback position. Sanders is predicted to be a high draft pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. His stock will be based on his performance on the football field in a few short weeks. Travis Hunter is also listed as a Heisman candidate at wide receiver.

He can play on both sides of the ball with his versatility and athleticism. This will be the second year under head coach, Deion Sanders. The Colorado Buffaloes will be watched heavily after a down year last season in 2023.

They play their first contest on August 29 against North Dakota State at home in Boulder, Colorado. A big downfall from the previous season was the Colorado Buffaloes’ offensive line breakdowns in protecting their signal caller. Sanders was sacked 52 times as the starting quarterback. After grabbing leads during games, they also had trouble stopping opposing offenses from scoring.

This resulted in a 4-8 record and losing a chance to compete in the College Football Playoff. Trying to revamp the defense for the 2024 season could be on the horizon as Deion Sanders hired NFL legend Warren Sapp as the defensive quality control coach. The season will kick off in a little over three weeks. Deion Sanders and company will have eyes on them as the expectations are even higher than a season ago as they look to have a successful 2024 campaign.
