The spring transfer window is one of the key times for college football coaches to rebuild their squads, bringing in new people and strengthening their teams with veteran players who may be looking to transfer elsewhere. The transfer portal is full of players who have already attended another school but are unhappy with their current situation. They enter the transfer portal to see if another team is willing to try their luck with them.
The last two weeks have provided some huge signings, surprises, and moves that NCAA fans never saw coming. But there are still uncommitted football players who are among some of the most exciting athletes in the game today.
What college will take a risk on one of these players? Or will they remain in the portal until the end of the 2024 regular season?
Top College Football Transfers for 2024 Season
Check out some of the top uncommitted players who are still in the portal that can be snatched up at a moment’s notice before the college football transfer window ends. These aren’t bottom-of-the-barrel players – some of these uncommitted transfers earned 4 out of 5 stars on ranking websites, making them absolute steals for needy college coaches.
Cormani McClain, CB
Cormani signed with Colorado last year after being one of the top prospects coming out of high school. After some initial drama, when he signed with Miami and then switched his allegiance, he attended Colorado under the infamous coach, Deion Sanders. However, attending a university where he was the highest-ranked recruit to join the squad in over two decades wasn’t smart.
Despite getting more playing time towards the end of the season, he hopes to play college football regularly to see the field more often and improve his stats.
Tyler Baron, Edge
Tyler Baron first committed to Ole Miss during the latest college football transfer window before selecting a spot at nearby Louisville. He attended spring training and practices with his team but was part of a huge group of players who all left the squad post-spring. There were many rumors about what went on behind closed doors that caused such a massive group to all leave simultaneously.
No matter the reason, Baron is one of the best edge players on the market right now. At 6’5″ and 260 pounds, he is a physical force and one of the best pass rushers in college football.
Damonic Williams, Defensive Line
Williams committed to TCU but left them hanging as he opted to leave the school and look for a greater challenge. Coming out of high school, Williams was a five-star prospect and True Freshman All-American, getting the attention of numerous schools around the country.
After signing with TCU, he helped the lower-level team make it to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, where he shone and made and racked up an exciting 24 tackles and 3.5 tackles for losses.
Even though he logged many minutes at TCU and made it to the season’s final game, he was arguably their best player by a mile and a fantastic signing. Now, he is looking for another college football team that matches his talent.
Dermaricus Davis, Quarterback
Last but not least, another player to watch during the spring transfer window is Dermaricus Davis, who played for Washington. Davis had a stand-out senior year at his high school in California, signing with Washington over other top-tier schools like Oregon State.
However, his dream quickly turned sour when the coach who recruited him, Kalen DeBoer, left for Alabama. Jedd Fisch came in to take his place, but Davis fell out of favor with the new man in charge. If a school is willing to take a chance on a four-star prospect, this is the guy.
