Cleveland Guardians Left Fielder Steven Kwan is having a career-best season in the power department. In the seventh inning of Sunday afternoon’s road game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Kwan blasted his 11th home run of the season. Kwan’s 11 home runs thus far this season matched the total from the first two seasons of his MLB career. His solo home run was the difference in today’s game as the Cleveland Guardians prevailed 4-3. He went 2-of-4 in Sunday’s victory.
He is not only having a career year in terms of round-trippers as Kwan’s numbers are up across the board in 2024. He is hitting .342 this season with 11 home runs and 30 RBI. He is tied for the league lead in batting average and fourth in On Base Percentage. Will Kwan be able to keep up his stellar level of play as the Cleveland Guardians look to maintain their standing near the top of Major League Baseball?

Cleveland Guardians Season Summary
Cleveland(63-42) has been one of the best teams in Major League Baseball this season. They hold a commanding lead in the American League Central and have the second-best record in Major League Baseball. The Cleveland Guardians trail only their opponent in today’s game, the Philadelphia Phillies for the league’s best record. Cleveland took two of three games this weekend over the mighty Phillies. Cleveland has been led by an average offense this season. They are 16th in batting average, 14th in home runs, and 13th in runs scored.
Their offense is led by Third Baseman Jose Ramirez and First Baseman Josh Naylor. Ramirez is eighth in the league in home runs and tied for second in RBI. Naylor is top 20 in the league in home runs and sixth in round-trippers. The pitching staff of the Cleveland Guardians has been the far stronger part of their ballclub this season. They are fourth in ERA, fifth in strikeouts, and tied for fifth in opposing batting average. Starting Pitcher Ben Lively leads the team in wins(9) and ERA while Tanner Bibee leads the club in strikeouts. Closer Emmanuel Clase is also tied for the league lead with 33 saves.
Guardians Upcoming Schedule
The Cleveland Guardians begin a two-game set on the road against the Detroit Tigers tomorrow. That series sets the stage for a four-game series that has the potential to shift the balance of power in the American League. The Baltimore Orioles visit the Guardians for a series beginning on Thursday.
Cleveland has all the makings of a roster that can make a deep run in the 2024 MLB Playoffs. They look poised for their sixth playoff appearance in the last nine seasons and what they hope is their first World Series title since 1948. The Guardians offense will need to match their pitching staff for the team to reach their full potential this season.
