The Cleveland Browns signed Offensive Lineman Germain Ifedi on Thursday morning. Ifedi was drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks out of Texas A&M. He then spent time with the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, and Atlanta Falcons. Ifedi has started 83 career games, 59 at right tackle and 24 at right guard, but did not play in a game during the 2023-2024 season. He was primarily a member of the Buffalo Bills last season.
At this time the exact details of the contract are unknown.
Will Ifedi be able to improve a Cleveland Browns offensive line that was below average last season?

Ifedi heads to a Cleveland team that will enter the 2024 NFL season with lofty expectations. They made the playoffs last season with a record of 11-6 while overcoming what was a less-than-ideal quarterback situation. Quarterback Deshaun Watson was limited to six games last season and five quarterbacks in total took snaps last season for the Cleveland Browns.
The Cleveland offensive line was 21st last season in sacks allowed at 45. Watson was sacked six times by the vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers defense six times in September of 2023. A healthy Watson should help take some of the pressure off the offensive line as he is a very mobile quarterback, but a clear upgrade was needed on the unit.
Cleveland should have one of the best defenses again next season, and with a much-needed upgrade on the offensive line, the team should be a threat in a loaded AFC in 2024 and beyond.
