Cleveland Browns, Nick Chubb Win Revenge Game Against Steelers in Week 11

Steelers

In Week 2 of the NFL season last year, Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb suffered a gruesome knee injury that would sideline him for the rest of that season. On that September 18th Monday night game, Chubb would have his left knee injured, damaging his MCL, ACL, and meniscus. This terrible situation would happen against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns would lose that game 26-22, but the team’s mind would be on Chubb and his long recovery back to the field.

The Browns’ Nick Chubb would go through a long process of returning to the game after 14 months, two surgeries, and a challenging long rehabilitation. Chubb returned to the NFL in Week 7 this season against the Cincinnati Bengals. He is one of the most talented running backs in the league and was glad to be back with his team. On Thursday night, Chubb faced the team against which he was injured, the Steelers. Could the Browns and Chubb get a win against the Steelers?

Snow Game

On Thursday Night, the Steelers and Browns played the season’s first snow game at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. The Browns beat the Steelers 24-19 in a match where footing and visibility were tricky due to the snow. Cleveland quarterback Jameis Winston would lead the offense due to Deshaun Watson‘s injury. Winston didn’t throw a touchdown pass but did throw for 219 yards and scrambled two yards for a touchdown in the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Chubb would run for 59 yards and score two touchdowns by the end of the snowy game. He scored the first touchdown in the second quarter on a two-yard run. Chubb would pass the 50-touchdown mark in his career in this game and has the third most touchdowns in Cleveland history with 51. After the game, defensive player Myles Garrett had this to say, according to team reporter Kelsey Russo,

“It meant a lot to me, I know it means a lot to him. He won’t say it, but it’s true, I’ll say it. This time last year, we were sick to our stomachs, and it hurt to have his family hurting, having to see that. For him to deal with all that, had to go through that kind of recovery, that mental obstacle. Not knowing what your future is and how long it’s going to take to get back. There was just so much in the air. For him to come back and be pivotal in this game, it just speaks to the kind of resilience and the man that he is, and we absolutely love him.”

Revenge Of Chubb

Nick Chubb and the Browns walked away with a W against the Steelers and a notch in Chubbs’ career. After the game, Browns quarterback Winston had this to say about Chubb, according to the teams’ website,

“Before this game, I told Nick, I said, ‘I got you today,”I know how important this was for him. And we ain’t going to talk about last year. Y’all all know the gig. But I’m so grateful and happy that I was able to see a smile on his face after that sweet victory against this team.”

Chubb has been through a long process to return to the Browns and the NFL. Since his return in Week 7, he has played five games and carried the ball 73 times for 222 yards and three touchdowns for the season. Chubb has rushed for 6,733 yards in his seven years in the NFL, all with the Browns. Chubb getting a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers has to feel good, considering the Steeler’s defense has not allowed over 1000 yards in rushing for the season and is leading the AFC North division.

Final Thought

It’s no secret that the Cleveland Browns are struggling this year. At 3-8 and last in the division, the Browns will face the 6-5 Denver Broncos next week in Denver. The Broncos’ defense is eighth in the league in total yards allowed. In rushing, the Broncos are ranked eighth, only allowing 1,085 yards. The offense is led by rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who has been one of the NFL’s most impressive rookies this season and has been outstanding. Could the Browns disrupt the rookie quarterbacks’ good fortune, and could Nick Chubb add to his remarkable career?
