Cody Rhodes vs AJ Styles
AJ Styles will take on Cody Rhodes at Clash at the Castle for Cody’s Undisputed WWE Championship in an “I Quit” match. The two former Bullet Club members have been feuding with each other ever since Cody won the world title at Wrestlemania 40.
They faced off at Backlash: France for the championship in a match that AJ ended up losing. Cody then went on to have a quick feud with Logan Paul, and during that time AJ Styles was denied another title shot by Smackdown GM Nick Aldis. AJ started realizing that if he couldn’t have another world title opportunity, there was nothing left for him to do in his legendary career, and he seemingly began considering retirement.
On the May 31st, 2024 edition of Friday Night Smackdown, AJ Styles came out in the main event segment after requesting some television time. It was made pretty obvious that AJ was planning on “retiring” on that show. After a brief promo on his career and him inviting the Good Brothers out to be with him during this moment, he also wanted Cody Rhodes out there with him as well.
Cody’s music then played as he walked down to the ring to congratulate Styles. He cut a short promo about AJ’s legendary career and everything he’s been able to accomplish. He then raised AJ’s hand up before he was quickly hit with a clothesline. He was then attacked viciously by AJ Styles as the Good Brothers blocked security out of the way. The segment ended with AJ hitting the Styles Clash onto Rhodes off of the steel steps.
The next week, Cody officially challenged Styles to an “I Quit” match at Clash at the Castle for the Undisputed WWE Championship. This match will probably be the end of this feud, and will likely see Cody stand on top retaining his title.
Drew McIntyre vs Damian Priest
Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest will face off at Clash at the Castle for the World Heavyweight Championship. They have been feuding since Survivor Series 2023 when they were partners in the Wargames match. After their team lost the match, McIntyre quickly left the ring as CM Punk made his highly anticipated return to the WWE and appeared for the first time in nearly 10 years.
After that, Drew McIntyre began feuding with Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship in the leadup to Wrestlemania 40. During that same time, both Rollins and McIntyre were feuding with an injured CM Punk so he agreed to be the special guest commentator for their match.
At Wrestlemania, Drew McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. He then exited the ring onto the commentary table and began taunting CM Punk before he was quickly attacked by him. Then, Damian Priest’s music hit as he cashed in his Money in The Bank contract to take the World Heavyweight Championship off of the man who had just won it.
At Clash at the Castle, McIntyre looks to get his revenge on Priest as he believes that he unfairly lost the title. It could be very likely to see Drew walking out of his home country with the title, but at the same time, the thought of a potential CM Punk interference is also out there.
The winner of this Clash at the Castle match will likely face off against Gunther at Summerslam 2024. Gunther won the 2024 King of the Ring tournament to earn a World Heavyweight Championship match at The Biggest Party of the Summer. He has defeated Drew McIntyre at a previous Summerslam event, so if that’s the match that will be made, it could very likely happen again.
