Cincinnati Bengals Star Receiver Jet Setting During 2024 Free Agency

Tyler Boyd- Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals are heading into free agency much like the rest of the National Football League. With the NFL Draft complete, players who were not selected are looking to sign with NFL teams. Not all players are rookies coming into the league as there are also veterans that want to continue playing as well.

One of those players is former Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Tyler Boyd who is making visits to other NFL organizations this week. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Boyd has been of interest to the Los Angeles Chargers. Still on his list is the Tennessee Titans as the end of the week approaches. The Los Angeles Chargers are in a rebuilding period as Jim Harbaugh is the new head man.

Where will Boyd end up?

Cincinnati Bengals WR Tyler Boyd Exploring Options

Tyler Boyd played eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2023 with the Bengals, Boyd caught 67 passes for 667 yards and two touchdowns. Throughout his career, Boyd has reached the end zone 31 times for a total of 6,000 yards receiving. His numbers have gone down in the receiving column, but he is still able to get downfield in the passing game.

The Cincinnati Bengals have re-signed their star quarterback Joe Burrow to a 2-year contract solidifying who will be under center for the 2024 NFL season. However, Boyd is looking to continue playing pro football with another organization. As of Wednesday, he has already visited Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers.

In the coming days, Boyd will take a trip to Tennessee to find out which deal would suit him better. Nothing is set in stone yet as free agency is just kicking off before training camp begins.

Los Angeles will be under new leadership in 2024 as Harbaugh was hired as their new head coach. His identity has always been to run the ball first. But, as most National Football League fans know, the NFL is primarily a pass-first game. Harbaugh has also been known to use tight ends throughout his coaching career.

Boyd could certainly be a good fit for the Chargers if he chooses to accept a possible contract. With his amount of yardage with the Cincinnati Bengals, he has experience as a top wide receiver. The Chargers need wideouts since Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have departed from the team.

With Boyd still exploring his options with different teams, it is difficult to speculate where he may end up. He played a huge role in the Cincinnati Bengals offense before stars like Ja’Marr Chase appeared on the scene. Speed is not a big factor for Boyd, but he has the versatility to stretch the field.

Titans Visit Set For Later In The Week

Tennessee had trouble scoring touchdowns in 2023. They could use some help at the wide receiver position themselves. The Titans were well below .500 with a record of 6-11 last season. Lack of scoring was a major issue as they were the sixth-lowest scoring team in the league in 2023.

DeAndre Hopkins was their top pass-catcher with 75 receptions for 1,057 yards. He led the Titans receiving core with seven touchdowns. Only having one playmaking wideout did not help the Titans on offense in 2023. If Boyd signs with the team, it could give them more scoring opportunities for 2024.

The Cincinnati Bengals may be losing one of their veterans in free agency, but will still have key players on their roster to make up for it if Boyd chooses to venture elsewhere. The two teams that are interested in the eight-year wide receiver will get a good guy, whether he goes to LA or Tennessee in the new season.
