Cincinnati Bengals QB Makes Bold Statement

Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow had his season cut short last year because of a torn ligament in his right wrist. The last game he played was against the Baltimore Ravens on 11/16. Burrow in 2023 completed 66.8% of his passes for 2,309 yards, 15 touchdowns, and six interceptions. When he was out, Jake Browning took over for him and he played well. The Cincinnati Bengals missed the playoffs last season and we will see if Cincinnati gets back to the playoffs in 2024. They were 9-8 and finished in last place in the AFC North. Every team in that division had an over .500 record.

When healthy, Joe Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The Bengals believe that they are the team that can dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC. Cincinnati and Kansas City have faced each other twice in AFC Championship Games. Burrow has been to one Super Bowl in his NFL career and lost to the Los Angeles Rams. The Cincinnati Bengals could be a team that goes from worst to first this season. Hopefully, the Bengals offensive line can protect Burrow.

The offensive line has been a major issue in the past for the Bengals. No doubt having Ja’Marr Chase will help Burrow. The biggest question for Cincinnati at this point will be if Wide Receiver Tee Higgins will ever show up to camp and get a new contract. Joe Mixon is no longer with the team as he is with the Houston Texans. As long as Burrow is the quarterback of this football team, they will always have an open championship window.

He Makes Bold Statement To the Media

Cincinnati BengalsJoe Burrow

Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow spoke to the media on Wednesday. He told reporters:

“You grow and learn every year. I know I’m pretty damn good. I have been. Going to continue to improve, year to year, day to day. I think that’s how you have to approach it. I’m focused on continued improvement. I’m really happy with the offseason that I had. I’m really happy to have this training camp to continue to hone my skills and improve and build this team chemistry for this run we’re about to go on.”

What else is Joe Burrow supposed to say about himself at this point in his NFL career? He was the number one overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of LSU by the Cincinnati Bengals. Burrow is no doubt the leader of this franchise. He hopes he can stay healthy once again this season. Jake Browning will be the backup quarterback and Logan Woodside will be the third quarterback on the Cincinnati Bengals roster for now.

Bengals Roster Outlook For 2024

With Tyler Boyd leaving for the Tennessee Titans in free agency, the Bengals have a very thin wide receiver core. Boyd joined former Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan. Callahan is the new head coach for Tennessee. Dan Pitcher is the Cincinnati Offensive Coordinator this year. After Higgins and Chase, Jermaine Burton will be the third wide receiver on the roster. Burrow is going to have to lean a lot on newly acquired Tight End Mike Gesicki this season. Head Coach Zac Taylor has been successful before in this league and he could do it again as long as his star quarterback stays healthy.

With Joe Mixon no longer on the team, Zack Moss will be the starting running back, and Chase Brown will be the backup running back. It will be important for Burrow to have a reliable running game behind him. The biggest concern about him entering this year is his health. If Joe Burrow is not the same player he once was, it could be a long season for Cincinnati. If he is back to his old self when the lights turn on, then the Cincinnati Bengals will be a playoff team once again.
