The NFL does drug tests from time to time. They want to make sure that players are not using banned substances like steroids but also test for recreational drugs that are against league policy. Marijuana is one of those drugs, and Adam “Pacman” Jones has spent his retirement advocating for legalization. In an appearance with Deion Sanders, Jones revealed that he used marijuana from time to time and found ways to beat the system to not get caught.

“Yeah, I cheated the program. Like, I was really good. People don’t know how smart I am. I’ve never used my p*** for a p*** test. Not one time.”

Sanders then commented that NFL drug tests are much stricter right now, and players could not get away with this now. Jones pushed back, saying, “Don’t say it can’t happen.” He then attempted to launch into the details of how he got around the system but Coach Prime shut him down and moved on to another topic.

Crazy Story

What a crazy story to reveal in an interview. The use of recreational drugs like marijuana has been a topic of discussion in NFL circles. As more states legalize the substance, many players have advocated for the league to become more lenient. The league and the players’ association did agree to a modified substance abuse policy, according to a memo obtained by the Associated Press.

It is still crazy that Adam “Pacman” Jones was able to get around the system of NFL drug tests. There are a ton of safeguards in place to make sure things are done by the book. However, this calls into question not only the negative tests but the positive ones as well. If Jones was able to get around the system, could other players do the same? Furthermore, could mistakes have been made with positive results? It will be interesting to see if the NFL responds to this, but for now, it is a crazy story from a former player.
