The San Antonio Spurs will not be making the playoffs this season, but the “Point God” Chris Paul made some history on Sunday. He is the first player to start in all 82 games in their 20th season or later in league history. The former Wake Forest Demon Deacon has had many accomplishments in his career up to this point, but this one is pretty strong for him. He has had injuries in his illustrious career that have hurt his availability at times. This season has shown he can stay healthy for the long run if needed.
Chris Paul’s 2024-25 Season in Review
This season, before the completion of the Spurs’ last game against the Raptors, Paul has averaged 8.7 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists on 42% shooting from the field. He is seventh in assists this year. His role as a mentor/leader has been successful this season. Especially with how the current favorite for Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle is playing. He also had Victor Wembanyama playing at an MVP level before Wembanyama was ruled out for the year with a blood clot in his shoulder just after All-Star weekend.
Paul has been one of the staples of longevity. He is the 11th player to make it 20 seasons into a career. Even though this season won’t be another playoff appearance for him in his career, it will still be considered a success. He was able to stay healthy for the 82-game season again and still has something left in the tank if he wants to play another season.
Final Thoughts
For myself, as a huge CP3 supporter, the fact that he is playing at this level for a full season and at age 39 makes me happy. I have been a fan of his throughout his career. I look forward to seeing what he does in 2025-26 if he decides to play his 21st season.
