With a 6-2 loss on Saturday against the Minnesota Twins, the Chicago White Sox lost their 19th consecutive game. Chicago has not won a game since July 10, ironically against the Twins. This current losing streak by the Chicago White Sox is the longest since the 2021 Baltimore dropped 19 consecutive ballgames as well. Next up on this list for Chicago for longest losing streak is a five-way tie for teams that have lost 20 games in a row.
The 2024 Chicago White Sox have a ways to go if they want to have the longest losing streak in the history of Major League Baseball. The Louisville Colonels lost 26 consecutive games in 1889. With a putrid record of 27-86, Chicago is already on track to go down as one of the worst teams in league history. The least amount of wins in the Modern Era was the 1916 Philadelphia Athletics who went 36-117. That is a win percentage of 23.5 while this year’s White Sox team has a win percentage of 23.8. Will the Chicago White Sox end the season with the worst winning percentage in league history?

Chicago has the worst record in Major League Baseball by a whopping 14.5 games. It is no surprise the offense has been the league’s worst this season. They are 30th in batting average, 29th in home runs, and 30th in runs scored. They are also last in OBP, Slugging Percentage, and OPS. Their offense is led by First Baseman Andrew Vaughn. He leads the team in batting average and home runs.
The pitching staff of the Chicago White Sox has also been miserable this season. They are 29th in ERA, have surrendered the second most home runs, 23rd in opposing batting average, and 29th in WHIP. In a few of these categories, Chicago trails the Colorado Rockies who play their home games in the “Mile High City.” This fact inflates the pitching statistics of the team substantially. Chicago’s pitching staff is paced by Garrett Crochet. He is second in the league in strikeouts, 16th in ERA, and 10th in WHIP. The team dealt a few of their top-flight pitchers at the 2024 MLB Trade Deadline including Erick Fedde.
White Sox Upcoming Schedule
Chicago will look to get back in the win column this afternoon against the Minnesota Twins. The White Sox begin a three-game set with the Oakland Athletics on the road Monday. The Chicago White Sox need a win soon as they continue creeping up the all-time losing streak list. It has been a miserable season for the Chicago White Sox, but there is still left to avoid being referred to as the worst team in Major League Baseball history.
