Chicago Cubs Star On Spectacular Run During 2024 Season

Chicago Cubs Left Fielder Ian Happ is riding a tremendous hot streak at the moment. He has four homers over his last six games. Happ went 1-of-3 on Friday afternoon with a two-run home run as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Cubs 5-4 at Wrigley Field. Happ added another RBI when he drew a walk in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Happ’s home run-hitting tear began last Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. He hit two home runs and had three RBI in Chicago’s 4-3 loss on Sunday. He also had a home run on Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers and added two RBI. Happ is 6-of-21 over his last six games with four home runs and 10 RBI.

This sudden hot streak for Happ came as a surprise since before last Sunday’s game, he had only two RBI in May.

Happ is hitting .223 this season with six home runs and 24 RBI. How long will Happ be able to keep up his improved level of play at the plate?

Ian Happ Career Summary

The Cubs(28-30) are third in the National League Central following a brutal stretch of games. Chicago is 1-8 over their last nine games. Even with such a terrible last week of games, the Chicago Cubs are still only 1.5 GB of the third and final National League Wild Card spot. Chicago’s offense has been inconsistent thus far this regular season and their statistics reflect that. They are 14th in runs scored, 18th in home runs, and 26th in batting average.

Chicago’s offense is paced by Right Fielder Mike Tauchman and Third Baseman Christopher Morel. Tauchman leads the club in batting average and OBP while Morel leads the Cubs in home runs and RBI. The pitching staff of the Cubs has been the far stronger part of their team during the 2024 season. They are 15th in ERA, sixth in strikeouts, and 14th in opposing batting average.

The pitching staff of the Chicago Cubs is led by rookie sensation Shota Imanaga. He is 5-1 this season with an ERA of 1.86. His 1.86 ERA is third-best in the entire league. Starting Pitcher Javier Assad is ninth in the league with an ERA of 2.27.

The Chicago Cubs look to get back to their winning ways with two more games at home against the Cincinnati Reds this weekend. They have an off-day on Monday before beginning a two-game set against their cross-town rivals, the Chicago White Sox.

Happ is swinging one of the hottest bats in the league and seeks to keep it going as he hopes to lead his team to some much-needed victories.
