Chicago Bears Number 1 Pick Caleb Williams Sets Highly Ambitious Goal Of Football “Immortality”

Chicago Bears Caleb Williams

The Chicago Bears took their quarterback of the future, Caleb Williams, with the first overall pick last night. This pick had little drama, as Williams had been the favorite for months. Expectations are sky-high for the USC quarterback, especially for this franchise. After the pick was official, Williams talked about his goals for his NFL career.

This was the first time the Chicago Bears have picked number one overall since 1947. Both sides want to rewrite NFL history. The Bears have been a laughingstock for the past few decades. They have been dominated by their rivals and only had a handful of playoff appearances. Caleb Williams wants to be known as one of the greats.

“To be the greatest or to be able to sit at the table. You put dreams and goals in front of you that you aren’t able to reach within a year or two, and you try to go get ’em. You have to consistently not get tired with consistency. Being able to be the same guy, being able to go in there and lead the guys and hold them accountable, and they hold me accountable to go get it. Having those team goals. The only way you can reach them.

“My last goal is immortality. The only way to reach that is winning championships. That’s big for me and something that is the reason I play the game. I’m excited.”

Immortality. Caleb Williams wants to be in the same sentence as players like Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Patrick Mahomes. He knows that the way to do that is to win championships. Can he do that on a team that hasn’t won since 1985?

Things Are Looking Up In Chicago

Caleb Williams wasn’t the only exciting piece for the Chicago Bears on draft night. Wide receiver Rome Odunze was picked ninth overall and joined an already potent-looking offense. DJ Moore looked great with the team last year, and Keenen Allen is a savvy veteran. De’Andre Swift had an excellent season with the Eagles, giving the Bears a great combination of skill position players.

Williams specifically can easily reach immortality for the franchise. The Chicago Bears have never had a 4,000 yard passer. He could break that streak in his rookie season. At this point, Bears fans would simply take beating division rivals and having an exciting offense. There is plenty of talent on this team. Can they topple the big dogs in the NFC North?
