Chelsea Star Needs Mediation Before Return

Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez is set to return to the club in the coming weeks from his national team. The midfielder will travel back to London after his triumphant time at Argentina in the Copa America. La Albiceleste who won the Copa America, saw Enzo participating in almost every game in the tournament. This in return will allow the Chelsea star to take his time in vacation before returning to the club.

However, his return will come with many reactions. The Argentine who had recorded a video of his teammates singing a song deemed racist will have a lot to deal with. The song referenced black French players, and Chelsea has a few. Enzo Fernandez might be heading back to London about to face off some questioning and disapproval from his teammates.

Chelsea midfielder and a couple of Argentines were joyous at the celebration of their Copa America victory. This in return prompted euphoria from the players as they began to sing. They started singing different songs, and soon Enzo Fernandez started recording a live video.

The song’s initials were not related to anything racist. However, towards the end, it was switched back to the song in question. The song was centered on different French players being black and not truly hailing from France. They hailed from different African countries. After a few seconds, Enzo Fernandez stopped the live. Probably he had suspected the song was not right.

Nonetheless, that didn’t stop the strong backlash he received. With the likes of Wesley Fofana strongly in disapproval of the video.

However, Enzo apologized saying:

“I want to apologize sincerely for a video posted on my Instagram channel during the national team celebrations. The song includes highly offensive language and there is no excuse for these words. I stand against discrimination in all forms and apologize for getting caught up in the euphoria of our Copa America celebrations. That video, that moment, those words, do not reflect my character or beliefs. I am truly sorry.”

Chelsea’s Midfielder Enzo Fernandez Expected Plans Before Returning

Despite his apologies, the midfielder needs to take his time in thinking and planning. This should be done to know how he will approach his teammates who felt most offended by the video. Another thing Enzo Fernandez will do is to plan how he will conduct himself at the training ground, so as not to create aggravation.

The Argentine will have to personally apologize to his teammates who felt affected by the song. Especially the ones of French origin. Other black players like Caicedo and Nicholas Jackson seem to be supportive of him. Their post recently showed Enzo Fernandez and them hanging out with themselves and other black players. This is to dismiss rumors about the star having a form of prejudice toward blacks. In the end, he might need them to help him maintain a peaceful good relationship with his other black teammates.

The World’s Perspective on the Issue

So many people have expressed mixed feelings over the video and Enzo’s apology. However, the notable ones came from a lot of French players and other social media influencers. They all criticized and disapproved of the occurrence. Some even clamored for a fine. The French Football Federation also was planning to take the case up. They discussed filing a legal complaint against Argentina.

In contrast, some other people said the songs were based on facts, and that it was harmless. Argentina’s Vice President Victoria Villarruel was very stern on her social media page on the issues saying:

“Argentina is a sovereign and free country. We never had colonies or second-class citizens. We never impose our way of life on anyone. But we are not going to tolerate them doing it to us either. Argentina was made with the sweat and courage of the Indians, the Europeans, the Creoles, and the blacks like Remedios del Valle, Sergeant Cabral, and Bernardo de Monteagudo.

“No colonialist country is going to intimidate us for a court song or for telling the truths that they do not want to admit. Stop feigning indignation, hypocrites. Enzo, I’ll bench you, Messi, thank you for everything! Argentines always with their heads held high! Long live Argentina!”
