Brentford Vs Chelsea Match Summary
After being denied a chance by the Brentford defender, Jackson’s header was the match-opener. Malo Gusto who has been a solid replacement for the Blues captain (Reece James) delivered a beautiful cross to the center of the box and the striker rose to the task.
The second half was a busy one as the home side resumed with a different momentum. Vitaly Janelt’s strike was denied by the woodwork in the opening minutes of the second half. Alex Disasi’s error led to an equalizing goal. Mads Roerslev made sure, he didn’t miss the close-range opportunity, as he delivered a powerful right foot shot. Vitaly Janelt was once again denied by the post, as he delivered a left-footed shot from outside the box.
Chelsea’s wonder kid (Cole Plamer) tried to be listed on the scoring sheet but the attempt was to no avail. Yoane Wissa extended the lead of the home side with an overhead kick, driven past Petrovic to the bottom left corner.
The Bees thought it was over until Axel Disasi redeemed himself by scoring a header just before injury time.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Response To Chants
Chants of “Roman Abramovich” and “Boehly, you’re a c***” were coming from the blues away end. Unfortunately for the Chelsea boss, he couldn’t secure a win on his 52nd birthday. The coach believes he can fight for his job.
His response to the chants;
“I’ve been told but I didn’t hear, to be honest. I don’t know. I need to believe. But it’s normal. We were losing the game 2-1 and it’s about to express their frustration. I am one of the responsible (ones). I am the head coach.”
What’s Next
“I am not worried. We need to accept this relationship. Someone asked me if I feel the love for the fans, no. We need to build our relationship between the coaching staff, the coach and the fans. You build your relationship by winning games.”
The Blues will battle Newcastle at home next weekend with hopes to gradually climb up the Premier League table.
The Blues are still serious contenders for the silverware (FA Cup) after suffering a defeat in the Carabao Cup final.
