Chelsea have been very busy during this summer transfer window. The Blues have made a lot of new signings while selling some big names. And so far with a few days to the end of the transfer window, they are still very active.
The Blues initiated their first transfer move in the summer by hiring their new coach Enzo Maresca after the departure of Mauricio Pochettino. Then they continued to announce the Signing of Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham, and so far they’ve secured numerous other players. Lately, reports have had it that Chelsea are exploring a way to sign Brentford’s striker Ivan Toney.

Ivan Toney has been the talk of transfers over the past year. Last summer it was rumored that different clubs were interested in signing him. Names like Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool, and Chelsea came up at the mention of Toney’s name. Even clubs from Saudi Arabia had locked on to the name. However, these Clubs eventually lowered their interest due to the price tag Brentford labeled on the English man, along with his lengthy spell of suspension. Now this summer it seems Chelsea wants to secure the 27-year-old.
It was reported by Caveh Sollhekol a Sky sports news reporter that the Blues desire a proven goal scorer to be their No. 9. And Ivan Toney who will fit into their wage structure will be a good fit. Moreover, amid Chelsea’s interests, Saudi clubs are also looking to sign him with a big offer. But Chelsea are looking to provide Competitive European football for Toney.
Will Ivan Toney fit into Chelsea?
Ivan Toney is a versatile striker who is very dangerous in front of goal. Alongside this is his stamina and strong Aerial presence making him dangerous on air. Chelsea will need someone of his quality in the team, as they are in lack of a dominant point man.
Nicolas Jackson who is serving as Chelsea’s main forward shows more of the quality of a supporting striker, as he enjoys keeping the ball and dribbling. And this has so far affected Chelsea. During big games, the signs of the lack of a ‘Natural Nine’ tend to manifest strongly. The Blues mostly end up failing to take their goal-scoring chances. The introduction of Ivan Toney will be a big addition to the Blues team, as the likes of Jackson will drop deeper or to the wings for a more creative role. While they can have Toney upfront creating the chaos.
More ahead for Chelsea
The Blues will face Servette in the second leg of their Conference League playoff. They’ll travel to Switzerland to play against the Swiss club on Thursday. Their first leg saw them edge past Servette, thanks to two goals in the second half. They’ll need the minimum of a draw in Switzerland to qualify for the Conference league.
On Sunday they’ll play Crystal Palace in a London derby to continue their premier league campaign.
