Chelsea entertained the possibility of selling one the most talented young defenders from the Blues’ squad for the upcoming season – but that has since fallen short. Unfortunately for both sides, neither could come to an agreement regarding a young superstar who would have surely made an impact on his future team.
Chelsea FC tried to sell the defender to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga so that he could get more game time, they could make a mini fortune in the meantime, and Bayern could reap the benefits of having a talented defender join the ranks. But, all has fallen to pieces in this lucrative deal.
Chelsea FC Unable to Sell Defender
Chelsea was hoping to sell the young 21-year-old defender to the Bundesliga side as he could get first-team minutes, come back to Chelsea ready to go, and help out Bayern on this fair deal. However, it seems as though the leaders in charge of the North London side do not want to sell the England defender to Bayern next year.
Although Bayern are one of the top clubs in Europe, Levi Colwill refuses to go. Colwill is not only an England U21 international who wants to stay in his home country, but he also wants to break into the senior squad at Chelsea and earn more regular starts for his squad.
The former Brighton player understands that he will have to step up and get regular minutes if he wants to be a part of Southgate’s plans for the future for the senior England squad. The new gaffer of the Blues, Maresca, seems like he could be the turning point for Colwill to really develop and thrive at the club.
Colwill could also work really well with the other new player at the club, Adarabioyo. After moving to Chelsea from Fulham, Chelsea’s back line is looking threatening and intimidating, making it hard for other teams to score goals this season.
Bayern has fallen short in terms of acquiring a new defender who can help bolster their ranks. Kompany, the ex-Anderlecht coach and Dutch international who used to play at Manchester City, is the boss who wants to find a new center-back for his squad.
Chelsea Looking Forward
Chelsea have managed to keep some of their key players for next season so they can make an impact in the Premier League. Mudryk is still on the roster as a winger, helping assist goals and putting in crosses. Fernandez is a midfield maestro who can string together passes and help feed attackers the ball in tough situations.
Palmer is a Manchester City graduate who has managed to step up this year for Chelsea FC and become the Young Player of the Year. Nkunku is a fast and tenacious forward who can help Chelsea FC score goals in tough games next season. Plus, they have retained Conor Gallagher in the midfield to help Palmer and put in tackles to break up the other team’s progressions.
Chelsea ended the Premier League 2023-2024 season lower than expected. Therefore, they hope to retain key players, bolster their squad, and finish in the top three next year so they can be a part of European football and fight for the EPL trophy.
