Chase has been dominant

Ja’Marr Chase is one of many cases in which the Cincinnati Bengals have struck gold during the draft. Some other picks in recent years, such as Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins in 2020, are also gems. The Cincinnati Bengals are in a unique spot offensively. They have a superstar quarterback and two phenomenal receivers, and the receiver room is loaded with youth and depth. SHOULD the Cincinnati Bengals pay Ja’Marr Chase?

The answer is YES, 1,000 times YES! Over the past three seasons, Ja’Marr Chase has been one of the best receivers in football. That part is not in question. So, if he is such a high-caliber talent, why are the Bengals so reluctant to pay the superstar wideout and best friend of your franchise quarterback?

Statistics Through 3 Seasons

Throughout his career, Chase has widely been regarded as a top five wide receiver in the National Football League. Having been selected to three straight Pro Bowls to start his career Ja’Marr is on track to have a Hall of Fame career for the Cincinnati Bengals.

During his rookie season in 2021, Chase broke the rookie receiving record, won the Offensive Rookie of the Year, and was selected to the Pro Bowl on his way to helping Cincinnati reach the Super Bowl for the first time in over three decades.

In three seasons Ja’Marr Chase has averaged 5.95 receptions per game on 9 targets, with an average of 82.6 yards per contest and 0.65 touchdowns per game. 45 regular season games for Chase have seen him rack up 268 receptions, 3717 receiving yards, and 29 touchdowns.

In 2022, Chase missed five games and still finished the season with 87 receptions, 1,046 yards, and 9 touchdowns! If you take his averages of 7.25 catches per contest, 87.16 yards, and 0.75 touchdowns per game and average those out for the five games he missed, he would’ve finished the season with 123 receptions, for 1,482 yards, and 13 touchdowns!! Chase WAS dominant in 2022, and it went unnoticed due to him missing five games.

Those numbers would have been good enough for a top five in every major receiving category. Second in receptions behind only Justin Jefferson (128), fifth in yards, and second in touchdown receptions behind only Davante Adams (14).

Conclusion

Keeping this short and sweet, Ja’Marr Chase is one of the most planned-for receivers in all of football, yet he continues to have success breaking defenses down and having a major impact. His stats have proven he is among the best, and investing in the future is something the Cincinnati Bengals need to do when it comes to making sure their superstar quarterback and wide receiver stay together and stay happy!
