Charlie Cooper Shines at US Open Junior Wheelchair Championships

Thursday proved a banner day for 16-year-old Californian Charlie Cooper at the 2024 US Open Junior Wheelchair Championships. First, he did the unthinkable by reaching two finals in one day. Knocking Off the Top Seed

Cooper Charlie’s day started on Court 13 in a thrilling singles semifinal. Against the No. 1 seed, Maximilian Taucher, Cooper, came out on top 6-2, 6-3. It was a sweet victory, as he now avenges his 0-3 record against the Austrian. Dominant in nearly every fashion, Charlie Cooper hit 23 winners to Taucher’s 14. With the singles win, Charlie booked a spot in the finals against No. 2 seed Ivar van Rijt. Van Rijt had advanced to the final after defeating Aussie Jin Woodman in a tight three-set match.
