Top 25: Total Apex College Football Preseason Rankings

Ohio State has championship aspirations.

The college football season is almost here! With that comes every publication’s preseason Top 25 ranking. The Associated Press preseason poll was recently released this week. The Coaches Poll was released last week. The top seven were the exact same in both polls, with the Georgia Bulldogs coming in at the top spot.

As stated above, every publication has its own take on the preseason Top 25. Well…SURPRISE! Here’s our preseason rankings. For our rankings, we had several football writers submit their Top 25. From there, I compiled a composite Top 25 ranking.

The Pursuit of the College Football Playoff

Obviously, preseason Top 25 rankings are all for talking points. Everybody, even you, has thoughts on how the season will play out and who the best teams in the country are. Once Week 0 hits, talking season ends and we can get down to the nitty-gritty.

Last season was the final season of the four-team playoff system. Now, we move into the twelve-team era, but does that really mean more teams have a legitimate shot at the natty? Going back to last season, it could be argued Georgia was the only team that got left out who could have won the national championship.

With twelve spots in the CFP up for grabs now, how many teams have the ability to go all the way? The new format guarantees the Power Four conferences will secure the top four seeds. It also promises a spot to the highest-ranked Group of Five team. So teams like Boise State, Liberty, Memphis, and others will have the ability to at least play for a chance.
