Celebration In The Great State Of Ohio 1/26/25

Celebration

Celebration pervades in Columbus, Ohio as The Governor of the State of Ohio, Mike DeWine, has proclaimed today Celebration of Champions Day as Ohio State celebrated its ninth National Championship in college football. The celebration lasted for about an hour and all speakers claimed the best is yet to come for Ohio State. We will see as it is difficult to win a college football national championship.

Celebration Details

Speakers at the Ohio State celebration of the national championship included Athletic Director Ross Bjork, DeWine, Mayor of Columbus Andrew Ginther, Ohio State President Ted Carter, Head Football Coach Ryan Day, Ohio State Captain Jack Sawyer, TreVeyon Henderson (who is fifth in Ohio State history in rushing yards), and Emeka Ebuka (who ended his career with catches in 41 straight games.)

After the speeches, the people in Ohio Stadium had some fun. The video montage was shown, narrated by Head Day. There was unfortunately not a parade, it was very cold, but the Buckeyes did have a lot of fun in their celebration. Parking was free and about 40,000 people attended. That included many students and dignitaries.

The entire football team was there, as was the best damn band in the land. The victory bell was not rung at Ohio Stadium, but it is rung after all victories. The Victory bell is the massive bell that hangs in the Ohio Stadium’s (affectionately known as the Horseshoe) southeast tower was a gift from the classes of 1943, 1944, and 1954. Coach Woody Hayes decreed that the bell should be solely managed by a campus service organization, a role that fell to Ohio State’s chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a national co-ed service fraternity.

Football Facts For the 2024 Buckeyes

The Ohio State football team beat six top-ten teams and four top-five teams en route to its national championship. It is possible that no college football team ever has a more difficult road to the championship. Day’s winning percentage is the third-highest in college football history. Knute Rockne and Walter Camp or the two ahead of him.

Good Men

The celebration ceremony started with Ohio State senior Gee Scott Jr. leading everyone in Ohio Stadium in a prayer. All of the players began by thanking God. You know, the team has a perfect academic standing, they tied Harvard. Ohio State Football did a nice thing by having only the four senior captains speak in Ohio Stadium.

It was very good that Day spoke a bunch at the victory celebration because he was excoriated by fans after the shocking loss to rival Michigan. He took a victory lap, which he deserved. Now he was to get ready for the defection of players and coaches. That is normal.

Conclusion

Day was the last speaker of the ceremony. He recounted some of the great moments of the Ohio State football season. A video montage of some of the season highlights was presented, on the video board and the Big Ten Network. The season highlights featured many of the seniors.
