Who Won the Casino Gauntlet Match At AEW All In 2024?

Christian Cage wins AEW Casino Gauntlet match

On the main card of AEW All In 2024, a Casino Gauntlet match was held with the winner receiving a future AEW World Championship shot. This match saw game-changing debuts, wrestlers appearing from other companies, and pro wrestling legends returning to the sport for one last outing.

This match was under the rule that whichever wrestler got the first successful pinfall would be crowned the winner, and a total of 12 out of a possible 21 wrestlers were able to enter the contest. The winner of this match now has the opportunity to challenge the new AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson for a title shot, so the stakes were as high as they could be for this contest.

Who Was In the AEW Casino Gauntlet Match?

Ricochet AEW

The AEW Casino Gauntlet saw many surprises and shocking moments which led to a huge fan reaction by the Wembley Crowd. The match started with Orange Cassidy and Kazuchika Okada entering as the number one and number two participants, as Cassidy was already confirmed to start the match off. However, the third entrant came as a shock to everyone as British legend Nigel McGuinness made his way to the ring to return to in-ring action for the first time in thirteen years.

The three men in the ring were joined quickly by Kyle O’Reilly, someone who had also declared for the match. There was another surprise at number five though, as England’s own G1 Climax 34 winner Zack Sabre Jr. made his way out. The men in the ring were soon joined by Roderick Strong, ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page in that particular order. Jeff Jarrett shortly followed them as the legend was able to wrestle in a crowd of over 50,000 fans, something that is well-deserved after the career he has had.

A huge debut occurred for AEW at the number ten spot, as former WWE superstar Ricochet came out and made his first official appearance for the company. It was reported earlier this week that the high-flying sensation had signed with the company, but it was still unknown when he would debut. Even though this was certainly the most important wrestler to come out, there was another surprising entrant following that, as Christian Cage appeared in front of the London crowd for the second straight time that evening, though without the AEW Trios Championship which he lost on that same event.

The Winner of the AEW Casino Gauntlet

As Christian Cage made his way down to the ramp, it was clear that he was limping after the Four-Way London Ladder match in the opening contest of the main show. Despite that, the narcissistic Cage made it his priority to come out of All In 2024 on top no matter what he had to do, and that included sacrificing his own body and health.

Unfortunately for Christian and everyone else in the match, the entrant that came after him was his faction member Killswitch. To the surprise of many, though, the titantron showed that Killswitch had gone back to his old name of Luchasauras and was coming out to attack Cage after the months of torment he had put him through. He entered the ring and put his hands on Christian, signaling that the alliance they had built for well over a year was no more.

However, Luchasauras then quickly turned his attention to the other man in the ring, Kyle O’Reilly, and attacked him instead. He then took a beaten-down Christian and laid him over O’Reilly’s body, giving his faction leader and mentor the AEW Casino Gauntlet win. Despite going through years of manipulation and it seemingly looking like Killswitch was finally going to turn on Christian, he decided to give him the win instead and continue their partnership.

What’s Next For Christian Cage?

After this huge AEW Casino Gauntlet win for wrestling legend Christian Cage, he now has the opportunity to challenge Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship whenever he wants to. It’s not completely clear as to whether or not this match can happen whenever Christian wants it to be, but it would be a huge surprise for the AEW fans if that were the case.

This could very well be the main event match for AEW All Out 2024, which is set to take place at the NOW Arena on September 7th, 2024. Although, if Christian is allowed the opportunity to cash in his contract whenever he wants to, the more logical option would be to challenge for the title in a scenario where Danielson is either physically hurt or in the middle of a match.
