Red Sox Young Talent Casas May Be A Trading Chip

Boston Red Sox

If John Henry remains the same owner he has always been, Red Sox Nation might want to come to terms with the idea that Triston Casas may be one of the major negotiating tactics to use in this upcoming off-season for Boston. With the Red Sox finishing a season in which young talent is still developing, they failed to lack the experience needed to make the playoffs for the third year in a row.

Red Sox Youngster Is Dedicated

This year, Casas missed most of the season with a rib injury, but he did have impactful play for the Red Sox. Known for being ‘extra,’ Casas has spent pre-games stretching in the outfield, his nails painted, shirtless, and in varying yoga poses. It has caused some attention, even his own bobblehead was released with Casas sporting both painted nails and toes, a bit out of the ordinary off the field he is working on being memorable on the field as well.

Dedicated to being a champion and loyal to the Red Sox, Casas has been said to be the first person at the park and the last person to leave. He loves Boston and what playing for the Red Sox means but he has no control about what John Henry or Craig Breslow may do this winter.  A lefty first baseman with less than 70 games played this season has a lot left in him and could be utilized by the Red Sox for what they truly need most, a more talented pitching staff.

‘Prime Trade Chip’ According To Insider

“If the old adage about needing to give something to get something is true, then Casas represents chief baseball officer Craig Breslow’s prime trade chip this winter. He’s young, skilled, and unfortunately left-handed, and the Red Sox need to break a logjam. Meaningful upgrades come at a steep cost. Perhaps it will be Casas.” Reports NBC Sports Red Sox insider John Tomase.

Casas showed in their series last week with the Twins that he has the ability to change the pace of the game.  He has worked on connecting with the ball and his power-hitting this season when not injured.  One upcoming possibility for the Red Sox is Japanese super-star 22-year-old pitcher Roki Sasaki.  It has yet to be confirmed if he will be ready for the MLB in the 2025 season.  Although it would cost the Red Sox roughly $7 million per year to sign on Saski, Craig Breslow has slashed the front office positions with big savings and is ready to make big changes.

Boston should consider every option this winter. Uncover every idea and flip over every rock to discover where exactly the foundation is and what is missing.  Boston has underdeveloped talent and usually, that puts a team in a decent trade position when there is an older team looking to refresh. There are multiple stars yet to have professional history, like Kristian Campbell named Red Sox Minor League Offensive Player of the Year or recently pulled up Mickey Gasper, that Boston can transform into proven players for their roster in 2025.

Red Sox Need Big Winter Moves

With the Red Sox turning another page, they will be looking to start a new story next year. A story of winning and a roster that can compete in the aggressive AL East. Craig Breslow will rip apart the Red Sox and put them back together before spring of next year. Triston Casas may be used as a valuable young infielder in Boston or be thrown in as a trading chip to upgrade the Red Sox roster for 2025.  Casas has many valuable assets, including his dedication to the sport itself, and only time will tell what will become of next year’s Red Sox.
