Less than 24 hours after deciding he would enter the transfer portal, Quarterback Carson Beck has committed to the University of Miami as a graduate transfer. He injured his elbow in the SEC Championship Game and was unable to finish out the game or play in the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame. Beck had surgery on December 23 to repair the UCL in his right elbow. He is expected to begin throwing in March and be a full participant for the Hurricanes during the offseason.
Beck had previously declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, but on Thursday he announced his decision to withdraw from the draft and enter the transfer portal. He played well for the Bulldogs this season with 3,485 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns. He had the best statistics of his collegiate career and was eighth in the nation in QBR. Head Coach Mario Cristobal landed one of the most in-demand prospects in the portal this cycle. Beck will be replacing Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward as the starting quarterback. Ward will be playing in the NFL next season and is expected to be a high draft pick. The Miami Hurricanes looked destined for the College Football Playoff but struggled down the homestretch of the regular season. They dropped two of their final three games and were unfortunately left out of the playoff by the committee as an at-large team.
