Carrasco pitched well enough for the Yankees to salvage the third game of the home series with Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-7. The homestand ends now, as the Yankees play in Pittsburgh tomorrow. Carlos Carrasco is likely to start only two more games for the Yankees, as Clarke Schmidt is supposed to come back to the team on April 15th. However, he may experience a setback, and we have seen that injuries can happen to pitchers, so the Yankees should keep Carrasco. Can a team ever have enough pitching?

Notes From the Game: Keep Carrasco
Starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt is supposed to come off the injured list and start for the Yankees on April 15th. That would bump Carlos Carrasco from the Yankees’ starting rotation. Thew Yankees should keep him as injuries can definitely happen to pitchers. This is Carrasco’s 16th major league season. Carrasco threw five and a third innings.
Yankees catcher JC Escarra made his first Major league start, giving Austin Wells a break. He has had a winding road to Yankee starting catcher. He was an Uber driver and a substitute teacher. His story is amazing, and he was just on the Today Show with his mother.
It was much nicer at Yankee Stadium tonight than it was last night. It was 69 degrees this evening, with the rain dissipating.
Ben Rice led off the game. He swung at the first pitched and hit a ground rule double to center field. Rice has a .429 batting average in the young season for the Yanks.
Aaron Judge became the first player in major league baseball with five home runs and 15 RBI in his first six team games. The Yankees have now hit more home runs in their first six games in major league baseball history with 22. That is also the record after seven games, so they do not need to hit one tomorrow in Pittsburgh.
Aaron Judge Unlikely to Use a Torpedo Bat
Aaron Judge is unlikely to use a torpedo bat. The bats are making national news and are helping five of his teammates, but Judge maintains that if it is not broken, do not fix it.
Conclusion
The Yanks needed to win this game. That gives them a winning 4-2 homestand and makes the flight to Pittsburgh much nicer. Leading 9-3, the Yankees did not think they were going to need to use their high-leverage pitchers, but that is what they needed to do, using Luke Weaver for four outs to secure the win.
