Carolina Panthers Shockingly Favored Over Dallas Cowboys In Week 15

RB Miles Sanders

The Carolina Panthers are one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, with a record of 3-10. They are also last in the NFC South The Panthers are heading into Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys and are favored to win on Sunday. The Panthers have not been favored to win any NFL game since Week 15 of 2022 and have been underdogs for the past 33 games. This is the sixth-longest streak by any team and the longest streak in franchise history.

The Dallas Cowboys are coming into this matchup coming off a heartbreaking Monday night loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. If the Cowboys have any hope of making the playoffs, those hopes are not over and done with. The Dallas Cowboys are 5-8 and now can go 5-9 after Week 15 coming into the matchup as underdogs against the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina Panthers Favored to Win Sunday

The Carolina Panthers are favored by 2 points heading into Sunday’s home game against the Dallas Cowboys. If the spread holds, it will be the first time since Dec. 18, 2022, when they were a 3-point favorite against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Carolina Panthers did end up losing that game against the Steelers 24-16. However, Carolina is on a roll against the spread, covering in five straight games, the longest active streak in the NFL.

Quarterback Bryce Young has been the main reason why Carolina has been good against the spread. Young has a Total QBR (60.0) since Week 9 and ranks 13th in the NFL, ahead of Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes, Washington Commanders Jayden Daniels, Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts, and Denver Broncos Quarterback Bo Nix. This is a huge improvement from Young since he got benched in Week 2 and Quarterback Andy Dalton replaced him.

The Dallas Cowboys had high expectations coming into this season after signing Quarterback Dak Prescott to a multi-million dollar contract. Unfortunately, Prescott suffered a hamstring injury in Week 9 that will require surgery. Besides, Prescott’s injury, the Cowboys are 5-8 on the season and cannot seem to get anything together as a team. The Cowboys have been involved in heartbreaking losses this season. It is safe to say that the Dallas Cowboys season is likely over after losing Monday night to the Bengals. Just how much will that loss, and the way they lost, impact the team going forward?

Final Thoughts

With how poorly their season is going, the Dallas Cowboys are now facing humiliation with being the underdogs coming into Week 15 against the Carolina Panthers. The Carolina Panthers have been in close games this season that they have lost by a field goal or a slight margin. The Panthers almost had a major upset by almost beating the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11.

The Carolina Panthers have wins against the Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, and New York Giants. Now that Carolina is favored on Sunday, can they live up to the expectation and beat the Dallas Cowboys? Or will the Cowboys get the win?
