Carlo Ancelotti has now officially confirmed in a press conference that his squad is now closed. Ahead of their pre-season match against AC Milan on Wednesday in the United States, Carlo has confirmed that there will not be any more signings in this transfer window. The signing of key players like Kylian Mbappe and Brazilian wonderkid Endrick is believed to have sealed up the squad, and there is no possible room for any other player to be taken in as of now. Speculations were made regarding the signing of a few elite players were primarily on, but now it is the other way around, as confirmed by the head coach of the team.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies were reportedly in great talks with Real Madrid; the scenario seems to have changed now with these official statements being released. Top journalists like Fabrizio Romano provided us with a justified statement of Trent joining Madrid; he will be a free agent in the summer of 2025, and also, with Jurgen Klopp stepping down as a Liverpool manager, it seemed very realistic for the English player to consider a move to Los Blancos.

What Did Ancelotti Have to Say

Carlo Ancelotti made a few huge and shocking statements in his press conference ahead of the USA preseason tour of Real Madrid. He explained why Madrid isn’t willing to sign more players by saying:

The squad is closed. [Jesus] Vallejo is back, [David] Alaba is recovering. We have the young people: Joan [Martinez], Jacobo [Ramon], and Raul [Asencio]. No one will be leaving because everyone wants to stay.”

He further added that he wants Jude Bellingham to be located as close as possible to the penalty area because of his lethalness and clever finishing skills. He stated that he follows the gameplay of a vertical dimension in which Toni Kross was his key player. Now he feels that Valverde, Tchouameni, and Modric can provide great defensive support if he wishes to play Bellingham up top as an attacking midfielder.

Carlo Ancelotti believes that his outfield players are versatile enough to adjust according to the situation and play their game accordingly. Don Carlo also thinks that due to this versatile gameplay, he has been able to clinch the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League title in the previous season, and he is arguably nowhere wrong in this.

Possible reasons Los Blancos refrained from signing players

Real Madrid has already signed the player who is currently in his prime form and is also considered the best player in the current football game, Kylian Mbappe. They have also secured the signing of the Brazilian teenager Endrick, who already has a knack for knowledge about modern-day football. It is evident that Real Madrid is now a team full of stars and has the best players in every possible position. The criteria mentioned land them in a situation of plenty, where there will be a lot of players who are considered the best in Europe but won’t be able to have enough game time.

Guilt to pass around

Well, this is not to be considered as a fault of the head coach (Carlo Ancelotti) as the starters for any game will be selected based on their current form and training performances. All-in-all this concludes that there is no shortage of funds for the Madristas but there is a problem for Carlo Ancelotti for space left in the squad which refrains him and forces them to draw their hands out from the market and likely miss on the signings of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies.
