Real Madrid struggled against Stuttgart in the first half. The German side overwhelmed them in the first 20 minutes, but as the first half progressed they managed to find their rhythm. By the end of the first half, none could find the back of the net. 2nd half came with a different approach as Madrid broke through. However, not long Undav found an equalizer with a free header. It became an end-to-end encounter, until after 80 minutes when Rudiger scored a header from a corner. And few minutes later, Endrick put the ice on the cake thanks to a fast counter from the Los Blancos.

Carlo Ancelotti on his Team’s Best Version

The Italian claimed his team is yet to attain its best form. He believes that there’s still a lot of inconsistency within the team, and a lot of work still needs to be done.

He said: “The headline of the night could be: Real Madrid has won the first game of this new Champions League format, nothing more, We are still looking for our best version and at times we have done well. When we scored the game could have been over but after the draw, we had the strength to win a very important game,” he explained. “If anyone thinks that winning games is easy, they are wrong. I have coached more than 200 Champions League games and I do not remember any of them without suffering.”

Ancelotti on Endrick, Courtois and Rudiger

The Coach spoke about the three best players on the pitch in that game. He gave praises to Endrick over his sensational goal. He also considered Courtois as one of the best in the world for his performance against Stuttgart. He praised Rudiger for his hard work in the team.

Ancelotti said: “Endrick had the courage because it was the last ball of the game. The best solution was to take advantage of the counterattack, which was 3 to 1. He was convinced to score and he did it very well. He probably chose the most complicated solution, but the result was very good,”

He continued on Courtois, saying: “I can make a list. He is the best in the world now, but I have had goalkeepers of great level. At the moment, Thibaut is the best of all.” He finally added about Rudiger saying: “We worked a lot on set pieces. His head is a strength, and Modric’s great foot must be appreciated.”
