Cardinals Face Challenges As Trey McBride Enters Protocol

The Cardinals will be without TE Trey McBride.

The Arizona Cardinals face a rather tricky situation given that they had their primary Tight End, Trey McBride, admitted into concussion protocol. It was after the head knock that the tight end suffered in the final few seconds of their loss to the Detroit Lions Sunday. The Cardinals are at a very desperate point given that they have started 1-2.

McBride’s Injury

In the game against the Lions, McBride played a respectable role as he caught three passes for 25 yards. However, his head injury contributed to forcing him out of the game much earlier than expected. Head Coach Jonathan Gannon, confirmed the fact that McBride entered concussion protocol. Hopefully, by next week, his presence will not be missed when they play against the Washington Commanders. It may now put to the test the depth they hold in their tight ends, as nothing else is seen in reserve but Elijah Higgins and Tip Reiman.

The Cardinals are now 1-2 after their loss to the Lions. Gannon feels that the team performs way better than its record. He elaborated that they did not take enough chances in all three phases of the game, and they surrendered 20 points in the first half, but still, they came back well after halftime. Gannon still hopes the team will be able to correct its mistakes and fix the running game, which was a problem in this game.

Importance Of McBride

McBride is one of the important players for the Cardinals this season. He has lots of opportunities to generate big plays, which can provide immense help to the Arizona offense. The absence of McBride might make things a bit tricky for the Cardinals to get the ball and then move down the field and get some sort of score. On top of that, it not only facilitates the passing game but also attracts defenders who create more space for the other players.

This situation will keep McBride very much on the Cardinals’ minds as they look ahead to their next game. Practice is scheduled for Wednesday when the team will be making its first injury report for the week. Everyone will be hoping for better news regarding McBride’s recovery. If McBride can’t play, then the coaching staff is going to have to adjust the game plan to get the tight ends ready to fill the shoes of the player who is going to be out.

Mindset Of Coach Gannon

Gannon is still concerned about improving the team’s performance. He claimed there are many areas where they need to improve including on third downs and in the running game. His decision to modify or make changes will be proof that he thinks his team can finally make a turnaround. “We fought hard,” he said, exhibiting resilience in the team. His faith in the players can rally the team to meet the next challenges.

It is going to be tough for the Arizona Cardinals with Trey McBride in concussion protocol. His loss is going to influence offensive play greatly since they need to win their game at home against the Washington Commanders. Improvement and resilience on the side of Coach Gannon are going to be the best thing for his team moving forward. If they can turn this season around by coming together and adapting, they may just turn this whole thing around.
