Canucks Looking For Win In Decisive Game 6 Vs Nashville Predators

Canucks try to close out the Preds in Game 6

The Canucks Vs Predators game 6 is going to be a high-intensity, do-or-die matchup.

As game 6 of the Western Conference quarterfinals in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs is set for puck drop Friday at 7:00 PM, the Vancouver Canucks come into Bridgestone Arena to face a determined Predators team and a rowdy home crowd in Nashville.

Despite having lost both games three and four at home, the Predators managed to pull out a close 2-1 victory on Tuesday in Vancouver and hope to keep that momentum going back on home ice for game 6.

Currently down 3 games to 2 in the series, the Predators need a big win at home if they plan to keep their season alive and redeem themselves from their past four playoff appearances, in which they were unceremoniously eliminated in the first round.

Will the Predators have what it takes to push the series to seven, or will the Canucks have the Predators singing the blues in the Music City?

Consistency From Boeser Key For Canucks

Brock Boeser and the Canucks are looking for some redemption themselves, having only advanced to the Stanley Cup Playoffs two times in the last ten years. Boeser’s team-leading four goals in the playoffs have come at some huge moments for the Canucks. Game 6 on Friday could see Boeser giving the Canucks a much-needed push to help win the franchise’s first championship.

With a hat trick in game four, including the game-tying goal with eight seconds left in the game, Boeser can be a major factor in lifting the Canucks to the second round. However, it is not going to be an easy task for Boeser and the Canucks coming into Nashville for game 6 of this series.

Rick Tocchet had this to say about facing off against Nashville in game 6. “The desperation of the other team is a big one. I think you have to match it, and you have to be comfortable in a tight game.”

Forsberg Needs to Step Up For Predators

Coming off a regular season career-high in goals with 48, Filip Forsberg needs to come up huge for the Predators on Friday. However, in the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs, Forsberg only had two goals in the series. Game six could see Forsberg flipping the switch and putting on a prime-time performance for the Predators.

Predators captain Roman Josi also has the potential to blow the roof of Bridgestone Arena. Josi has an opportunity to step into the spotlight at home, a place where he is very comfortable, having notched 32 assists in 41 home games this regular season. At 33, Roman Josi’s age is a factor. He does not have many more opportunities in front of him to win the Stanley Cup, so expect an intense performance from the captain.

The Canucks are going to have to come out swinging on Friday night. With the win in game three and the heartbreaking late-game comeback in game four, the Canucks know how to win in Nashville despite the raucous atmosphere at Bridgestone Arena.

What to Expect For Game 6

Expect nothing but all-out intensity from the Predators in game 6. They know what’s at stake here. With stars in Forsberg and Josi, they also carry incredible depth in players like Gustav Nyquist, Jason Zucker, and Ryan O’Reilly, who, with his cup win in 2019 with the Blues, knows what it takes to dig deep and win crucial series-deciding games like this one.

With the crowd in Nashville behind them and momentum from their 2-1 win in game five, as long as the Predators‘ stars come up big and have support from their vets who have been there before, I have a feeling this series will be heading back to Vancouver for a high-octane game seven.

The puck drops for game 6 at 7 PM Eastern, 4 PM Pacific on TNT.
