- Net Run Rate (NRR): If PAK wins their remaining matches and the United States loses theirs, both teams will have four points. In this scenario, qualifying will be determined by Net Run Rate, which means Pakistan must win by big margins to boost its NRR.
Given these circumstances, Pakistan’s journey to the Super 8 stage seems not easy. They rely not only on their performance but also on the results of other matches in the group.
What Happens if Rain Cancels the PAK vs. CAD Match?
If the entire match is rained out, Pakistan and Canada will split the points, with each side receiving ‘1’. In such a situation, Babar’s players would be unable to overcome the USA’s four-point lead. As a result, a washed-out event would see PAK eliminated from the Super 8 race.
It should also be noted that no reserve day is scheduled for any group-stage match in the T20 World Cup 2024. So, Pakistan will qualify if India loses their next two games against the USA and Canada, And the USA drops their remaining matches. Even if the USA loses to India, they may still qualify for the Super 8s with a victory over Ireland. PAK don’t have it all in their hands at the moment.
