Caitlin Clark and the WNBA are set to return after the Olympic break. The Olympics ends on Saturday, August 11, 2024. Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are ready to return to the second half of the WNBA season and make a run for the playoffs. The Indiana Fever are coming into the second half of the season with an 11-15 record. The Fever are set to return at home on August 16 against the Phoenix Mercury (13-12). Will the Fever end up making the playoffs?

The Indiana Fever star rookie has enjoyed her time off but is ready to get back on the court. Clark told reporters at practice she is ready to return to basketball action. She said “I honestly kind of feel that already. I feel like I’m ready to get back out there and get playing.” Clark took her time off to reset and work on some things while on the Olympic break.

Clark also mentioned the Fever needs to improve defensively to have a shot at a run to the playoffs. Clark has worked on her strength training and improving with Forward Aliyah Boston. Before the break, the duo had great chemistry between them with Clark finding Boston down low in the paint and scoring.

Before the Olympic break, Caitlin Clark was the leading score for the Fever averaging 17.1 points a game, shooting 40.5% from the field, and 89.1% from the line. Clark also averaged 8.2 assists a game and is a force when on the court. Her ability to shoot triples and find her teammates on the floor is unreal for a rookie star. In July alone Clark averaged 20.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 12.5 assists.

Indiana Fever Take On Phoenix Mercury

The Indiana Fever will play the Phoenix Mercury in their first game back on August 16. However, the Mercury will open the second half of the WNBA season against the Chicago Sky and rookie star Angel Reese. There have been many comparisons between Clark and Reese since they entered the WNBA this season.

Both rookie sensations are also up for the Rookie of the Year Award at the end of the season. Reese has been unreal for the Sky and making WNBA history with her 15 consecutive double-double performances earlier this year. Clark has also made history herself with the most made triples in a game and points scored.

The Indiana Fever would like to come out of the Olympic break with a win and have a positive start to the second half of the WNBA season. If the Fever can get hot and put some wins together to get to .500, they can be a force to be reckoned with.
