The Buffalo Bills have had a regular season for the ages in 2024. One particular stat reinforces their dominance this season. The Kansas City Chiefs(15-1) and the Detroit Lions(14-2) are their respective conference’s top seed. Two of those team’s three losses have come at the hands of the Buffalo Bills this season. Buffalo is the first team in NFL history to defeat two 14+ win teams in a season.
Buffalo defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 30-21 in Week 11 and the Detroit Lions 48-42 in Week 15. This type of success against the top teams in the leagues bodes well for the team as they prepare for what they hope is a deep run in the NFL Playoffs. Will the Buffalo Bills be able to carry this momentum into the postseason?

Buffalo(13-3) will end the regular season as the No. 2 seed in the AFC. With their playoff seed locked in, the Buffalo Bills will look to end the regular season healthy. The Bills have been led by their offense this season. They are ninth in yards per game and second in points per game. The team has been led by Quarterback Josh Allen who is having an MVP-caliber campaign. He is 10th in the league in passing yards, sixth in passing touchdowns, and third in QBR. Even though Allen’s statistics are not eye-popping he is a slight favorite to be named the 2024 NFL MVP.
Buffalo’s defense has been middling this season. They are 20th in yards allowed and 11th in points allowed. The team’s defense has struggled at times this season surrendering 35 points to the Baltimore Ravens, 44 to the Los Angeles Rams, and 42 to the Detroit Lions. The team’s defense will have to play better for the Buffalo Bills to reach their full potential.
Final Thoughts
The Bills visit the New England Patriots in Week 18 with nothing to play for. Their playoff seed is locked and the team has turned its attention to a crucial NFL Playoffs. Allen will suit up briefly on Sunday to make his 114th consecutive start. Head Coach Sean McDermott said the team is going to play their starters and take a look at other players in the season finale.
Buffalo is in a familiar position heading into the postseason. They are on a winning streak and look like one of the AFC’s most formidable teams. Unfortunately for Buffalo, that recipe has not led to playoff success in years past as they have been eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs three of the last four years. They will hope to exorcise those demons if given the opportunity, this year.
