The Buffalo Bills made one of the most shocking moves of the offseason. Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs had long been one of the best duos in football. The Bills decided to move on from Diggs and sent him to Houston. We’ve heard a lot of chatter on social media and rumors from the media. Allen had a chance to talk about the trade in a recent interview.
Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen On Stefon Diggs Trade
There has been a lot of chatter that Allen and Diggs didn’t quite see eye-to-eye at times. However, when asked Allen painted a positive picture of his former teammate.
“I’ll always love that guy like a brother. He meant a lot. Look at the statistics. The numbers don’t lie.”
The numbers don’t lie. As a member of the Buffalo Bills, Diggs had 5,372 receiving yards and 37 touchdowns. While the numbers trailed off at the end of 2023, he has been a great receiver for the team. Allen wished they could have kept everyone but understands that football is a business.
“It’s definitely hard to part ways with a guy that’s been instrumental to our success here. I wish we could keep everybody. We lost a lot of veteran leadership. It is what it is. I don’t get paid to make changes on the team.”
Will They Regret The Decision?
The Buffalo Bills definitely lack quality wide receivers on the roster. Gabe Davis left in free agency, leaving the team very thin at the position. Ever since the trade, rumors have swirled about the team trading up for a wide receiver. The good news for the Bills is they have two good pass-catchers outside of the wide receiver position. Dalton Kincaid became a favorite target near the end of last year and running back James Cook was involved heavily in the passing game too.
Allen took the high road. Whether there were problems behind the scenes, the star quarterback is making sure this year is not marred with distractions from a player who is no longer with the team.
