Bryce Sisters To Lead Scotland At Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Bryce sisters to lead Scotland at Women's T20 World Cup 2024

Scotland’s captain for the forthcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the United Arab Emirates will be all-rounder Kathryn Bryce, while her sister, wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce, will serve as vice-captain. Scotland’s team is full of all-rounders, and this will be their first appearance at the Women’s T20 World Cup. Priyanaz Chatterji, Katherine Fraser, and Megan McColl are the other all-arounders except Kathryn.

After placing second behind Sri Lanka in the qualification competition, which was also held in the UAE earlier this year, Ireland earned a spot in the tournament. They played a tri-series against the hosts and Papua New Guinea in the Netherlands in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup, and they performed admirably there.

Scotland Coach Wallace on Team Balance

Scotland’s fifteen-woman qualifying squad comprises thirteen players who are part of the T20 World Cup roster. Also named are former captain Abbi Aitken-Drummond and offspinner Olivia Bell, both of whom made an impression in the Netherlands. “This team’s composition and balance are exceptional,” stated head coach Craig Wallace

“We have players that can win games from beginning to end, and I believe that this is the biggest change in this squad’s development in my little time here. Every time they are on the field, players have been putting in important performances, and this is evident throughout the entire team. Being able to constructively debate players’ arguments in light of their collective output was fantastic,” Wallace added.

Group B comprises England, Bangladesh, South Africa, and the West Indies, including Scotland. They will play two warm-up matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka before traveling to the United Arab Emirates in mid-September for a training camp. They take on Bangladesh in their opening T20 World Cup match on October 3.

Most of the team’s players have given outstanding performances and positive indications of their form in the recently finished Tri-series with the Netherlands and Papua New Guinea. A few Scotland players to keep an eye on are Darcey Carter, Saskia Horley, Abtaha Maqsood, and the Bryce sisters. With 84 runs in a few innings at bat, Darcey Carter emerged as the top scorer of the just-finished T20I leg of the tri-series. With five wickets in a few innings with the ball, Chloe Abel led all wicket-takers in the T20I version of the tri-series.

Thirteen members of the team played during Scotland’s historic first-ever senior ICC Women’s World Cup qualification campaign in the United Arab Emirates in April and May. Olivia Bell and Abbi Aitken-Drummond, who both participated in the recent, prosperous Tri-Series in the Netherlands, have joined the group of thirteen. Group B’s top two winners move on to the semifinals. The opening match of the competition, which takes place in Sharjah on October 3, pits the Scots against Bangladesh.

In the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, the following players represent Scotland: Megan McColl, Darcey Carter, Ailsa Lister, Hannah Rainey, Rachel Slater, Katherine Fraser, Olivia Bell, Abtaha Maqsood, Abtaha Jack-Brown, Abbi Aitken-Drummond, Saskia Horley, Chloe Abel, Priyanaz Chatterji, Megan McColl, and captain Kathryn Bryce.
