Bryce Eldridge: Giants’ Rising Star Earns Double-A Promotion

Bryce Eldridge

Bryce Eldridge, the San Francisco Giants’ 2023 first-round draft pick, has capped off a remarkable season with a promotion to Double-A Richmond. The 19-year-old first baseman is still playing in the minor leagues and has already attracted the eyes of the MLB franchise through his raw talent and hard work.

He stands 52nd in MLB Pipeline’s prospect list and started his professional career this year with Single-A San Jose. After a great start, he got a promotion to High-A Eugene in late June and only got better. In more than 48 games with the Eugene Emeralds, Eldridge batted a healthy. 335 with a 1. 060 OPS with 12 home runs.

Elite Company: A Record-Breaking Performance

His time with High-A Eugene did not go unnoticed, and Bryce Eldridge’s performance can give an advantage to the club. Baseball America noted that he posted a wRC+ of 185, the third-best among 19-year-olds with 150+ plate appearances at that level since 2006.

The only players listed ahead of him are Junior Caminero, MLB Pipeline’s No. 1 overall prospect, and former Yankees and Mariners catcher, Jesus Montero. Bryce Eldridge was seeing the ball very well and hit five homers in his last six games for Eugene and deservedly earned the Northwest League Player of the Week award from August 26 to September 1.

A Homecoming at Richmond

Bryce Eldridge’s promotion to Double-A Richmond is significant because it brings him closer to home, near the Flying Squirrels’ ballpark. He may need to drive about two hours from his home in Vienna, Virginia. While going without a hit in his first game in Double-A, the young hitter made history as the second-youngest player for the Flying Squirrels, the arrival of Bryce Eldridge implies what fans will get a glimpse of in 2025 when he is expected to begin in Double-A the following year. This trend shows that fans might him move up to the majors as early as next year.

Giants Legend Will Clark On Eldridge: Incredible

Giants legend and current special assistant to the front office, Will Clark, has already seen Bryce Eldridge in action. Clark did interact with him when he visited the San Jose affiliate and Eugene this year and was delighted by what he saw. The Giants organization and the team’s fans are to follow his story as he continues his development in the minors.

Bryce Eldridge is one of those players who entered the minors and has proven his worth with each team he played with. His move to Double-A Richmond shows balanced progress, with a wRC+ of 185 putting him among the best in the game. Fans are still getting increasingly intrigued by his character and therefore his promotion means he is closer to home. Even Giants legend Will Clark has been quite impressed with his skills so one can only imagine him making his mark in the majors as soon as possible.
