Major Bryan Danielson Update Ahead of AEW All In 2024

Bryan Danielson - Kazuchika Okada - 2024 Wrestle Kingdom 18

Bryan Danielson is one of the best wrestlers in the world and his full-time wrestling career is coming to a close. However, it appears that this may have happened whether he wanted to or not. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select is reporting that when Bryan Danielson discussed in a recent interview how AEW doctor Doc Sampson did not want him to wrestle at All In and that was legitimate. There are reportedly heavy restrictions put on Danielson leading into the match against Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship.

Danielson’s contract is set to expire on August 1, but there is still a plan for him to continue with the company past that date, including All In on August 25. Sean Ross Sapp also stated in his report that Danielson is expected to remain a part-time AEW wrestler once this current run concludes. It will be interesting to see what type of restrictions will be put in place on Bryan Danielson when he wrestles at All In.

Bryan Danielson has been part of All Elite Wrestling since debuting at AEW All Out 2021. However, he has not held any championships since joining the company almost three full years ago. After winning the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, he became the number-one contender for the AEW World Championship at All In to take on the champion Swerve Strickland in the main event. With new talent continuing to debut in the company, Danielson has avoided becoming champion.

He also has battled injuries but winning championships while on the brink of concluding your run with AEW is not unprecedented as we saw Sting win the AEW Tag Team Championships with Darby Allin at Revolution 2024. Swerve Strickland has been champion since defeating Samoa Joe at AEW Dynasty 2024 back on April 21. Winning the AEW Championship is something that would make a lot of sense for the company as he does not need to hold the title long but having video of Bryan Danielson as AEW Champion is something they can use for years down the line.

With Darby Allin having a match for the title at AEW Grand Slam, Danielson does not need to hold onto the championship for long and use it to help make the younger talent look even better in the long run.
