Bryan Danielson Announces Retirement with Loss at AEW All In 2024

Bryan Danielson, AEW All In

Bryan Danielson is known as one of the best professional wrestlers of all time, but it seems like he could be three seconds away from retiring from the ring. During an in-ring segment on this week’s AEW Dynamite, Bryan Danielson went face-to-face with AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland and made the following surprising announcement.

“Swerve. I have one more promise. I promise if I don’t win the AEW World Championship, I will never wrestle again.”

Their match at AEW All In 2024 inside Wembley Stadium for the title was already highly anticipated but this announcement will certainly add to the intrigue. This is something that is very interesting and August 25, 2024, could be the final time that “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson wrestles. Of course, wrestling retirements are rarely the end as many wrestlers have come out of retirement for a match or a full run but this could be the final match of Bryan Danielson’s legendary career.

Will AEW All In 2024 be the final match of Bryan Danielson’s career?

There has been talk surrounding Bryan Danielson’s health status heading into the match as Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that there are heavy restrictions placed on Danielson leading into this match at AEW All In 2024. He has been wrestling at a full-time capacity as Danielson has already wrestled in 30 matches in 2024 but has a first-time-ever singles match against Jeff Jarrett on next week’s Dynamite show.

Danielson has dealt with a multitude of injuries while in All Elite Wrestling since debuting at AEW All Out 2021 but has never been a champion. There is a real chance that he loses this match and this is the final time that “The American Dragon” will ever be in a match again. His contract reportedly expires on Thursday, August 1 so that can be an indication that he is ready to ride off into the sunset and call it a career.

However, do not be surprised to see Bryan Danielson be crowned the AEW World Champion at All In as having him be in the lineage of the championship, as well as video footage of him as the world champion, is valuable. However, he has been opposed to a championship in the past so this could be one final run as champion and do what Ric Flair did with WWE, retiring after losing his next match. The only difference will be that he will retire from professional wrestling and lose his title in the process.
