Bryan Danielson Has Yet to Re-Sign His AEW Contract Ahead of All In 2024

Bryan Danielson, AEW All In

Fightful Select has reported news regarding Bryan Danielson that could change the landscape of All Elite Wrestling. With AEW All In 2024 less than a week away, and Danielson competing in the main event for the AEW World Championship, it was shocking to learn that his contract originally expired on August 1st, 2024.

It is now being reported that he has still not signed a new contract, which could very well mean that the future WWE Hall of Famer could be retiring at the big event. He is currently working as a free agent without a contract, though he might not be re-signing anywhere.

Bryan Danielson Yet to Re-Sign With AEW

As of August 19th, 2024, Bryan Danielson has not re-signed his AEW contract, though he is still working for them as a free agent. He also told Fightful Select that he is going into his “Final Countdown”, which means that his title vs career match against Swerve Strickland could be his last.

He also stated that he would be at peace with retirement if he were to lose to Swerve at All In. He has said previously on AEW programming that his daughter doesn’t want him to wrestle past October 2024 and wants him to retire and come home. Many signs point to Bryan retiring at AEW’s biggest annual event, but many also point to him becoming the new AEW World Champion.

Danielson said that he would be open to talk to AEW President Tony Khan about signing a new contract, which means that there’s a chance that he doesn’t retire at All In. That would mean that Danielson would also become the new AEW World Champion, a title that he has never held during his time with the company. From his recent comments, it doesn’t seem as if he wants to retire full-time at this point in his career, which means that there will probably be a title change in Wembley.

Bryan Danielson vs. Swerve Strickland: Title vs. Career

At AEW All In 2024, Bryan Danielson either becomes the AEW World Champion or he retires from wrestling forever. He and current champion Swerve Strickland are set to face off in the main event of the company’s biggest show, where a legendary wrestling career could come to an end in front of the Wembley crowd.

Bryan Danielson earned the title shot after winning the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament against some of the best wrestlers in the world. He defeated NJPW legend Shingo Takagi, Pac, and Adam Page to earn the right to face Swerve Strickland at All In. Despite winning the title shot, Danielson didn’t feel as if he was good enough to beat Swerve and needed to build confidence.

To change that, he decided to do two things, the first one was to put his career on the line, and the second one was to test his abilities against wrestling legend Jeff Jarrett. He was able to defeat Jarrett in a brutal Anything Goes match, where Bryan was put through hell but still came out on top. That gave him more than just confidence heading into this big show, and it could have a huge effect on the outcome of the match.

Could Bryan Danielson Go Back to WWE?

Now that Bryan Danielson’s AEW contract has expired, there has been speculation online about whether he would return to the place he became a 5 time world champion at, WWE. Danielson is bound to make the WWE Hall of Fame and he will likely accept that offer despite previous comments on not ‘caring’ about that honor, so fans will see him back in the company for that.

However, it would seem unlikely at this point for the aging superstar to sign another long-term deal with anybody but AEW. He probably wasn’t expecting to sign another contract after this most recent one anyway, but if he is going to do that it won’t be with WWE. He has already been a multiple-time champion and a grand slam champion over there, and he has one of the most accomplished WWE careers of all time, so there won’t be much for the legend to do if he returns.
