Bron Breakker has been one of the fastest-climbing wrestlers to come out of WWE NXT as he was squaring off in a match against the WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn at Summerslam 2024. The match ended quickly as Bron Breakker was able to hit a pair of spears and win his first championship on the main roster. Let’s take a closer look at his potential challengers and discuss who could be the next challenger for the new Intercontinental Champion.

Bron Breakker has been one of the top wrestlers on WWE Monday Night RAW since being drafted to the brand after Wrestlemania 40. There has been a lot of potential challengers for the Intercontinental Championship set up and let’s take out Sami Zayn in a rematch as a possibility for the purposes of this article.
One match that can happen is what we saw on the July 22 episode of Monday Night RAW in the number-one contendership match for Summerslam 2024 as Bron Breakker faced off against Ilja Dragunov as that is one of the ways that WWE can establish the positioning of two wrestlers being in the title picture only a few months after being called up to the main roster. They faced off three times on RAW as Breakker won twice, including the title opportunity for this Summerslam 2024 matchup, while the other ended in disqualification with the win being credited to Dragunov.
Seeing Bron Breakker in a match against Dragunov would be a lot of fun but there is also another wrestler who can deliver a banger in Sheamus. Sheamus’ story has been that he is trying to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career but has not been able to. Sheamus has proven to be a veteran that can still wrestle at an elite level so that would be a hard-hitting and entertaining match.
Whoever Bron Breakker goes up against will be interesting as it changes the dynamic of how the shows are going to be going forward. This shows the confidence that Triple H has in Breakker to be a star going forward and how he can be a future world champion, and it may not be too long until that happens.
