Brighton needs a change before they begin preparing for the 2024-2025 Premier League campaign coming up in just a few months. After the Euro 2024 competition this summer, all eyes will be back on the players’ domestic teams and leagues to kick off a new year. And Brighton has a lot to think about before they can head into pre-season with good energy and an upbeat attitude.
Brighton needs a new gaffer. Their ex-coach has departed the club and the board members are looking for someone who can help boost the team’s lackluster energy and poor playing style. The club ended the campaign in 11th place, which isn’t too bad of a result considering some of the low-energy games we saw throughout the year.
One bright light for the team is the possibility of a new manager who can help turn things around.
Hurzeler the Potential New Manager at Brighton
Fabian Hurzeler, the current manager at St Pauli, is one of the top candidates to take over for this English club located in the south of the country. Right on the coast, Brighton is a beautiful and vibrant town that brings a lot of life to the English countryside – and fans hope that a new manager will bring more life to the football club.
Hurzeler is looking to be the replacement for De Zerbi, the past manager of the squad who spent two seasons in the Premier League, giving his team the chance to play European football and boost their technical and tactical abilities through more possession-style of the game.
However, despite having more years on his contract, he parted ways with the club by mutual consent at the end of the 2023-2024 season.
Now, Hurzeler is looking like the top choice for the Gulls. This young and tenacious coach led St Pauli to the Bundesliga 2 title last season, bringing an up-and-coming team to the top of the ladder in an effortless way.
The United States coach, a rarity in high-level football in the world, was the youngest ever coach at the German club – his youthful attitude and energy helped bring the struggling club back to the Bundesliga in just two seasons of being in charge.
Brighton Looking Forward
Currently, Brighton FC has a promising squad list that Hurzeler can work with if he decides to take the job -and if he is offered a role as the head coach of Brighton and Hove Albion FC.
Billy Gilmour is a youthful 22-year-old who still has a lot of years left in him but has made a huge contribution to the Premier League so far. Joining Gilmour in the attack and middle of the park is the veteran James Milner, the Liverpool stalwart who switched to the Seagulls last season for more consistent playing time – and who doesn’t look like he is ever slowing down.
The Seagulls have Tariq Lamptey as a quick and exciting full-back in the defending line, complimented by solid defending presences like Lewis Dunk and Joel Veltman who can help keep clean sheets.
The attackers who can put the ball in the back of the net for Brighton are Joao Pedro, Danny Welbeck, Simon Adingra, and Ansu Fati, the Barca superstar who switched to the Premier League to see if he can adapt to English football.
With Hurzeler in charge, the Seagulls could break into the top ten in the PL this season.
