Brent Rooker Putting Together Great 2024 Season

Oakland Athletics Brent Rooker is having a great 2024 season.

Oakland Athletics Designated Hitter Brent Rooker has been one of the few bright spots for an Athletics team that has struggled mightily in 2024. With a two-run home run last night against the Los Angeles Angels, Rooker blasted his 25th home run of the regular season. He has really found his stride with ten home runs in July, and Rooker still has a few more games to add to his total. His 10 round-trippers are tied for the most in the league this month.

Brent Rooker has not only experienced a power surge in July but is also hitting .389 this month. He is trailing only Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals for the best batting average in Major League Baseball in July. Brent Rooker is hitting .288 this season with 25 home runs and 72 RBI. He is 19th in the league in batting average, seventh in home runs, tied for seventh in RBI, and 7th in OPS. Will Rooker be able to keep up his MVP-caliber season for the Oakland Athletics over the final two months of the 2024 regular season?

Brent Rooker Career Summary

Rooker made his debut in 2020 as a member of the Minnesota Twins. He spent the first two seasons of his career in Minnesota before spending 2022 with the San Diego Padres and Kansas City Royals. Brent Rooker has been with the Oakland Athletics since the 2023 season. The best season of Rooker’s career came in 2023 when he made his lone MLB All-Star game. He finished the season with 30 home runs. Rooker is poised for a second straight season of 30 or more home runs. He is a career.249 hitter with 65 home runs and 164 RBI.

Oakland Athletics Season Summary

It has been another rough season for the Oakland Athletics(43-63). They are in last place in the American League West and have the fourth-worst record in Major League Baseball. Their offense has not been good this season. They are 27th in batting average, fourth in home runs, and 19th in runs scored. Rooker leads the Athletics in every important offensive category. Catcher Shea Langeliers is second on the team in home runs and RBI with 19 and 53 respectively.

Oakland’s pitching staff has also struggled this season. They are 23rd in ERA, 27th in opposing batting average, and 27th in WHIP. Starting Pitcher JP Sears leads the ballclub in wins, ERA, and strikeouts. Closer Mason Miller is on the IL with a broken pinky following the punching of a training table.

Athletics Upcoming Schedule

The Oakland Athletics play the middle game of their three-game set this afternoon against the Los Angeles Angels. They begin a two-game series with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday of next week. Oakland will miss the MLB Playoffs for the fourth season and are looking to avoid their third straight 100-loss season.

Brent Rooker is one of the few players on the Oakland roster that will be of interest to the league with the 2024 MLB Trade Deadline just a few days away. According to various media reports, Rooker and other Oakland players will not be dealt at this year’s deadline. Regardless of where Brent Rooker ends the 20224 regular season, he will look to continue playing in what will be the franchise’s final few months in Oakland, California. The team announced earlier this season their intentions to play in Sacramento, California beginning next season.
