On the April 15th, 2024 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, a WWE Champion was forced to vacate their Championship because of an injury.
Rhea Ripley Vacates Women’s World Championship
Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley kicked off this past Monday Night Raw, and she came out in a case. There were already rumors circling that Ripley suffered an injury in the Liv Morgan attack angle on the previous week’s Raw, and those rumors turned out to be true as the champion vacated the title.
The champion entered the ring and immediately explained how this was not a personal choice, and that she was being forced to vacate the Women’s championship. She then put the title down on the canvas and turned her attention to the woman who caused her a legitimate injury, Liv Morgan. She went on to talk about how she worked so hard for this reign and that it was taken away from her because of Morgan’s revenge tour. She also explained how when she’s cleared to return to in-ring action, Liv Morgan needs to run.
The fans then heard Liv’s music as she came out to confront Rhea but was quickly stopped by security. Rhea then exited the ring and walked towards Liv but security was able to break them up before a physical confrontation began. Raw GM Adam Pearce was out there to make sure that nothing went down between the two, and the segment ended with both of them being held back.
What’s Next
Ripley had held that Women’s championship for over a year, as she won it at Wrestlemania 39 from Charlotte Flair. Many fans believed that maybe Liv Morgan would have been the one to dethrone The Eradicator, due to the storyline between them. There could likely be a tournament to determine the new Women’s World Champion, which could include the likes of Becky Lynch, Liv Morgan, and maybe even Smackdown talent.
