Joey Slye is heading to the Jacksonville Jaguars on a one-year deal. Slye is the Commanders’ record holder for the longest field goal in franchise history. In a week 8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Slye made a 61-yard field goal to give the Commanders a 17-10 lead. Washington would ultimately go on to lose 38-31.
Jacksonville had been in search of a new kicker after Wil Lutz backed out of his agreement with the Jaguars last week. Joey Slye will compete with Riley Patterson for the gig. Throughout his career, Slye has made 82.3% of his field goal attempts, including 62.5% from 50 yards or longer.
