The Las Vegas Raiders came to terms on a two-year contract with QB Gardner Minshew. Minshew will compete with QB Aidan O’Connell this offseason for the starting job. Minshew had 15 passing touchdowns last season for the Indianapolis Colts. He appeared in all 17 regular games last season due to an injury-plagued rookie campaign for Colts rookie Quarterback Anthony Richardson. Minshew had the Colts in playoff contention last year until the final week of the regular season.

Minshew was drafted in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars out of Washington State University. He has 59 career touchdowns and has a career completion percentage of nearly 63%. Minshew spent two years with Jacksonville (2019, 2020) and spent two years with the Philadelphia Eagles before his one-year stint in Indianapolis. Minshew has long been considered one of the best backup quarterbacks in the league, and a bottom-third starting quarterback.
What Will Gardner Minshew Bring To Las Vegas In 2024
Minshew joins a new-look Raiders team that has had a busy first day of free agency. Las Vegas signed star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins and released Running Back Josh Jacobs earlier in the day. The Las Vegas offense finished 23rd in points per game last season in 2023 with 19.5 points per game. The team had great uncertainty at the quarterback position in 2023 as they utilized three starters.
Minshew, whether he wins the starting job or not, will provide a veteran presence for a rebuilding. First-year Head Coach Antonio Pierce will lean on Minshew in 2024 to help establish a culture in “Sin City.”
