Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has surpassed all-rounder Hardik Pandya to become India’s third-highest wicket-taker in T20I cricket. This milestone came during India’s narrow six-run victory over Pakistan in their ICC T20 World Cup clash at New York’s Nassau County International Stadium.
Jasprit Bumrah delivered an exceptional performance, taking three wickets for just 14 runs in his four overs, with an impressive economy rate of 3.50. His victims included the star opening pair of skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, as well as Iftikhar Ahmed.
In 64 T20Is, Bumrah has amassed 79 wickets at an average of 18.67 and an economy rate of 6.44, with his best figures being 3/11. Hardik Pandya, who previously held the third spot, has 78 wickets in 94 T20Is, with his best figures being 4/16.

During Pakistan’s chase, Mohammad Rizwan anchored the innings with 31 runs off 44 balls. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Pandya’s crucial wickets created pressure on Pakistan. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Babar Azam (13) and Rizwan, while Pandya took key wickets of Fakhar Zaman (13) and Shadab Khan (4). With 18 runs needed in the final over, Naseem Shah (10*) attempted to secure victory for Pakistan, but Arshdeep Singh held his nerve, ensuring a six-run win for India.
With this thrilling win, India sits atop Group A with two wins from two games, earning four points. Pakistan, having lost both of their matches against the USA and India, is in fourth place, making their chances of advancing to the knockout stage slim.
Jasprit Bumrah was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his match-winning bowling performance.
