The Houston Texans have had a busy first day of free agency. So far, they have agreed to terms with CB Jeff Okudah and DT Denico Autry. Now, they have come to an agreement to sign another star defensive player. Head Coach DeMeco Ryans is loading up on defense to go along with his potent offensive squad.

Houston is signing the former Tennessee Titan to a 3-year deal worth $34 million. Azeez Al-Shaair spent one season in Nashville with the Titans after spending the first four seasons of his career with the San Francisco 49ers. During his lone season with Tennessee, Al-Shaair amassed 163 total tackles, 84 solo tackles, and two sacks.
Al-Shaair is set to rejoin DeMeco Ryans in a reunion of sorts. The new Texans linebacker signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic in 2019. While with San Francisco, Al-Shaair played for Ryans, who served as the team’s linebacker coach and then defensive coordinator.
The Houston Texans lost EDGE rusher Jonathan Greenard to the Minnesota Vikings earlier in the day and then lost RB Devin Singletary to the Giants. With the three pending defensive signings, the Texans have replenished some areas of need.
