Everton managed to end last season without relegation despite the hurdles set for them by the Premier League. The Toffees experienced a significant number of point deductions. This led to them struggling to escape the relegation zone. In the end, Sean Dyche’s side managed to pull it off. This came with crucial wins against their big Merseyside rivals.
With the new season looming ahead, Everton are looking shy of getting into the transfer business. This is majorly with signing players. However, outgoings have been made. The Toffees had cashed in on a big player in their team. They sold their impressive defensive midfielder Amadou Onana to Aston Villa. So far they haven’t worked on any major replacement. This may be because the Premier League still monitoring them. Despite it all Everton is looking for a way to sign Barcelona’s striker Vitor Roque.

Everton is constantly exploring for a way to secure Vitor Roque. Their initial first offer of €25m + €3m add-ons was rejected by Barcelona. The Catalan side seemed to be looking for a higher fee. A higher fee of around €30-35m. And as it stands Everton are in discussions with Deco to sign the striker from Barcelona. The contract from Everton is expected to last till 2031.
Roque started his first match for the club in January. Now the 19-year-old is available for a loan, or the same fee the Blaugranas secured him for. The Merseyside club are part of the clubs who seemed interested in the Brazilian. And as it stands they are the ones who are more serious about him. Soon enough Everton will decide on signing him. Their decision could be to agree to Barcelona’s price or another possibility.
The Risk at hand for Everton
Vitor Roque’s move may be something to worry about for the Toffees this summer. The transfer could be a big risk. Barcelona’s financial challenges in the past seem well-documented. And the Catalan club is planning to break even on the Brazilian. Roque arrived six months back and his signing was proof of how Barca transfers have been weakly running.
At Goodison Park’s end, there have been a lot of financial challenges. This indicates that Everton doesn’t have the luxury to splash millions on players who haven’t been proven yet. Nevertheless, there can be other options to securing the player aside from spending big.
Loan options
Sean Dyche and the Club’s top official would be looking to take caution in pursuit of Vitor Roque. However, a decision will likely be made before the transfer window closes. A better option for them other than paying the €30 million would be a loan deal for the Brazilian. The fact that the Merseyside club had already spent most of their Transfer budget, would discourage paying the fee.
Moreover, a way around paying the 30 million fee would be selling another first-team player like Onana. And as earlier stated, it will be a risk on the part of Everton as Vitor Roque has yet to be proven.
