Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat Summer League Preview | July 13, 2024

Boston Celtics vs.

The NBA 2k25 Summer League action continues tonight with a Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat showing. The Heat already have some games under their belt this summer, but it will be the first for Boston.

There is no doubt that Celtics fans are still celebrating Banner 18, and now they can see how the new talent could help them get back to the Finals. Fans should focus on rookies Baylor Scheierman and Anton Watson. This will be their first time playing in an NBA setting. Scheierman is a lights-out shooter at the three, and it will be exciting to see if he can do this in the summer. Watson played for Gonzaga and finished with 14.5 points and 7.1 rebounds.

The Heat’s rookie Kel’le Ware had a rocky first start, but that changed in his second game, where he had 26 points and 11 rebounds. It’s starting to really look like the Heat made the right decision with this pick. Ware didn’t play in the final game of the California classic, but they still got the win over the Los Angeles Lakers thanks to Keshad Johnson and Alondes Williams both coming up with 21 points.

Will this rivalry come alive in the NBA 2k25 Summer League?

Boston Celtics

As the Celtics have yet to play a Summer League game, it isn’t clear how this roster will work together. However, there are some familiar faces that will be playing. One is JD Davidson, who has spent a large amount of time with the G League Maine Celtics. Here he is averaging 21.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game. Expect him to be a leader for the team this summer. The Celtics just re-signed him to a two-way contract.

Fans will also get to see more from their 38th pick in the 2023 draft, Jordan Walsh. Walsh had a fantastic first year in Maine with 14.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. He also got to make some trips to Boston to join the roster along with Davidson. They sat on the bench for most of their time there, but they gained a ton of experience from practices and witnessing the games first hand.

Miami Heat

Outside of Johnson and Williams, the rest of the Heat team fell flat in their win against the Lakers. However, Josh Christopher was strong on defense collecting two steals. He also filled the gaps well and played great on the ball. He finished the game with 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists. If he can get his scoring up a bit this game, he’ll have a solid showing on both ends of the court.

Possible Breakout Players of the Gameh

Boston Celtics

Boston’s breakout player could end up being rookie Scheierman. He was fantastic at Creighton University where he averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. What stands out even more is his three-point percentage his senior year which was 37.2%. He also had a great field goal percentage with 44.8%. If he can get hot this game, fans will see why Boston took him in the first round.

Miami Heat

Jaime Jaquez Jr., who wasn’t available for the start of the summer, will be joinging the team in their upcoming Las Vegas game. Jaquez Jr. made a giant splash in the NBA averaging 11.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. Expect the guard to come out hot. However, there is a good chance he doesn’t play much minutes. The Heat will want to ensure he doesn’t end up injured before the regular season begins.
