During Game 4 last night, Kristaps Porzingis of the Boston Celtics left the game due to a calf injury. The Celtics defeated the Miami Heat 102-88 to take a 3-1 series lead. The Celtics announced that he left in the second quarter with right calf tightness.
He rolled his opposite ankle for a few possessions and limped noticeably throughout the second quarter. Porzingis was seen with his head in his jersey and left the game with a walking boot on.
How Does Porzingis’s Injury Affect The Boston Celtics?
ESPN NBA inside source Adrian Wojnarowski reported on X, fka Twitter, that Kristaps will undergo imaging today. It doesn’t seem to be an Achilles injury, and Boston remains hopeful of its center’s injury status. So far in this series, Kristaps Porzingis contributed 12.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks for the Boston Celtics.
Porzingis did not play well for the Boston Celtics in their Game 2 loss to Miami. He scored six points and contributed eight rebounds and four assists.
The Boston Celtics Game 4 Performance
The Celtics had a surprising 38-point game from Derrick White, which carried them to the win. Their star forward, Jayson Tatum, performed well with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. The injured Porzingis did not play well before leaving the game, as he had seven points and three rebounds while shooting 1-5 from the field.
Is This Miami’s Time To Comeback?
Miami’s reputation of being the underdog team and making long playoff runs is on the line here. They have injuries affecting them as they don’t have Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier. It is a perfect time for Bam Adebayo to step up and become more of a leader to push the Heat to a comeback. The chances might be slim to none, but there is more of a chance now due to this injury.
